Gunston 2017B Red II lost their first game in the league 5-1 to a strong SYC 2017B side. From the beginning, SYC demonstrated high quality with quick attacking play, strong dribbling, and solid technical ability, making it a difficult match for our team.
Gunston worked hard throughout the game and attempted to stay organized in a 3-2-1 defensive shape to limit space and control the game. Despite these efforts, SYC’s speed and movement consistently created problems and allowed them to break through our defense.
The players continued to compete and showed good effort until the final whistle, which was a positive takeaway despite the scoreline. The match provided valuable experience against a high-level opponent and highlighted key areas for development.
Moving forward, we will focus on improving defensive organization, 1v1 defending, and quicker reactions under pressure. This experience will help the team grow and prepare for upcoming matches.

Gunston 2017B Red II 2–0 Loud 2017B Ajax | Strong Team Win

Gunston 2017B Red II earned a well-deserved 2–0 win over Loud 2017B Ajax in a balanced and competitive match from start to finish. Both teams had moments in the game, but Gunston managed the rhythm a little better and showed strong control in key areas.
Defensively, the team was excellent. We stayed organized, closed down space well, and stopped most of Loud Ajax’s attacking attempts before they became dangerous. That defensive discipline gave us the platform to stay in control and protect the result.
Going forward, we created several good chances and could have added more goals, but the team showed patience and good timing when it mattered most. The first goal came at the end of the first half, and the second came early in the second half, giving us a strong advantage at the perfect moments.
After that, the team stayed focused and worked hard to keep the clean sheet and finish the game with a solid 2–0 victory. It was a mature performance built on teamwork, defensive effort, and taking the right chances at the right time.
A big thank-you to all the parents for your support and encouragement on the sidelines. Your energy means a lot to the players and the team.

In the final moments of the game, the team built up a beautiful play starting with a long pass from the defense. Our midfielder controlled it with a great turn and connected quick wall passes that opened space perfectly. The ball was played out to the left wing, setting up a golden scoring chance…
Just inches away.
The shot missed by the smallest margin, and a follow-up effort couldn’t find the net either. A goal in that moment would have flipped the game from a tie to a win. You can even see the coach’s reaction in the video — pure emotion, knowing how close it was!
Proud of the buildup, the teamwork, and the fight until the very last second. These are the moments that shape players and teams. We keep pushing forward!

Gunston 2017B Red II vs VYS Black 17B | 2-2 Draw
Our Gunston 2017B Red II team battled to a hard-fought 2-2 draw against VYS Black 17B at Ken Lawrence Park. The boys showed great effort from start to finish, controlling much of the game with strong offensive pressure, good positioning, and plenty of teamwork.
Even with the rainy conditions and slippery turf, the players adapted well and gained valuable experience playing through a challenging match. The team created several great scoring chances, showed strong communication, and continued to grow as a unit on both sides of the ball.
We are very proud of the effort, spirit, and development shown by the boys today.
