With the start of school year tomorrow, here is a list to help all our athletes set healthy habits and create a positive culture. We’re excited to see everyone tomorrow!
High School Parents & Players:
Here is a picture of the calendar that each player will receive at Tuesday’s practice! Any questions please let me know!
We will resume practice Tuesday September 8th at 3:00pm in helmets, shoulder pads, and cleats. Players please arrive at 2:30 to get your shoulder pads and practice jersey. Practice for High School will be 3pm-7pm. Stay tuned for more updates!
It took a little bit to finalize our Fall but here’s what it looks like:
Starting September 8th:
EVERY TUESDAY & THURSDAY
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Algonac Chiropractor - LifeCare Chiropractic & Massage for the generous donation to our program. As we continue to move through these challenging times, our program could not appreciate the open handedness of our community leaders more.
In an effort to not overload our small business community this year, it was an unanimous decision of our Board to not solicit sponsorship funds at this time. Instead, we continue to be there supporting our local businesses just as they have always supported us.
[08/17/20] Thank you to everyone who donated to the can drive today! It was a huge success for our team and managers. Thank you to Carley Engel, Ella DuVernay, Emma Saddler, and Lottie Hanson for making it happen. Thank you players for driving around and collecting everyone’s bottles! We are blessed to live in such a great and supportive community🙏. #rowtheboat🚣🏼 #letusplay
For those of you wondering, the can drive is still a go for tomorrow. With the late cancellation from the MHSAA costs have still incurred. We will continue to fundraise to make sure the athletes and managers have the best possible Spring football season they can! #rowtheboat🚣🏼
Here is the update from the MHSAA, I need a little time to process. This ends practice for now but we will get back to work as soon as possible. I will have another update tonight. If you have any questions please call, text, or message the football account. One thing is for sure, we are lucky to get another chance.
Attention Middle School Parents:
There a few important upcoming dates so please mark your calendar:
August 18th: Parent meeting in the stadium bleachers at 6:00pm
August 26-28: Day camp for all players, time TBD
August 31: First official practice
Algonac Players & Parents:
Here is the August schedule, it took sometime to get together due to the pandemic and all of our restrictions. The MHSAA has stated, we will be playing football in the fall. No one is sure what it’s going to look like but we are doing our best to keep everyone in the loop as more information becomes available. If you have any questions please get a hold of me, Coach Loper, and I will do my very best to get them answered. We can not go away to camp but we are in the works to do something. I will have a separate flyer and post when we finalize the details.
Algonac Football Fans:
This is a fundraiser led by the team and the four team managers. They asked if they could do this and the coaching staff is excited to support them in this can drive! If you’re heading out on the boat this weekend, keep those returnables and we will happily pick them up from you at your convenience! If you’d like to donate message the football account and we’ll setup a day and time that works for you!
[07/29/20] Unfortunately with the delay in the start of the season until August 17th we have to cancel our annual football camp. We are working to come up with an alternative for the young men who dedicate their time to the program. I will have more information forthcoming.
We will resume workouts as soon as we are given the green light ( August 10th) with the start of practice on August 17th. We will look for more updates from the MHSAA as they guide us through these difficult times.
statechampsnetwork.com The Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Representative Council approved a phased-in approach for beginning fall sports at Wednesday morning’s meeting, allowing lower-risk sports to begin as scheduled, but tabling an ultimate decision on higher-risk sports for another month.
Algonac Parents and Athletes:
All workouts suspended until August 10th. Please watch for updates.
A huge thank you to Amiels Enterprises Inc. for a generous donation to our program. As we struggle to move through a challenging fundraising year, Amy recognized needs in the program and was able to contribute outside of a formal sponsorship!
In an effort to not overload our small business community this year, it was an unanimous decision of our Board to not solicit sponsorship funds for our recent Muskrat Scramble Golf Outing. Instead, we continue to be there supporting our local businesses just as they have always supported us.
No practice tonight, we’ll see everyone Tuesday at 6:00pm!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our football lovin Mom’s out there! We hope you have a great day and you get to enjoy your loved one’s!
Today is a difficult day as we learned the fate of our students not returning to finish their 2019-2020 school year. Along with not being able to finish their days in the hallways and classrooms, many will not return to what they love most; their extracurricular activities. To the Band members, the Choir members, Student Government, our top 10, the boys and girls Track teams, Tennis team, Girls Softball, Girls Soccer Team and Baseball team; I am sorry you won’t be able to return with classmates and make those final memories and leave it on the field. One thing I can promise is, you will not be forgotten and you’ve made memories with people that will last a lifetime! You will forge ahead and do great things, as expected. Keep your heads up and continue to chase those dreams. To the underclassmen, let this be a reminder to not take your high school days for granted, make each day mean something. I post this picture to remind you that you have an army behind you! An army willing to help you at a moments notice. Coach Dan Matzka says it best, “ Once a Muskrat, Always a Muskrat.”
As we continue to practice social distancing and follow our stay home, stay safe order I have posted a workout in our Team by MAX PREP app. Most of the 8&9th graders have been added and all returning high school players are in the roster. With the uncertainty of returning to school and spring sports it’s imperative to make sure we are doing activities to help us for the fall. HUDL is another great tool we all should be using to breakdown film from last year. ZOOM meetings will be setup in the near future so we can chalk talk and improve. If you have any questions please let us know. If you need to added to either app please let me know and we’ll get you into the system!
Thank you to everyone who picked up their cheesecakes today. We were at Dock 421 from 8:00am to 4:30pm. If you did not receive your cakes today we will not be passing out until after the mandated stay home, stay safe order is lifted. The cakes are in the freezers at the school. If you have any questions please feel free to message the football account! Thank you Chris Campbell and Sandee Kuhfeldt for letting us use your facility to distribute the goodness!!
Cheesecakes are all set and ready for you to come pick up!
The cheesecake orders will be available for pickup Monday March 23rd at 9:00am. We are using Dock 421 as our pickup location:
421 Michigan St.
Algonac Mi. 48001
I, Coach Loper, along with Mr. Klayo, Adrenaline Fundraiser, will be there to make sure your orders are correct. If you’re uneasy about coming in:
Message the football account when you arrive and we’ll bring your order to the car. Any questions please let me know!
When we need help raising funds for our football program these are usually the first business’s we hit to go on our gold cards or sponsor the golf outing. Let’s help them through this tough time!
