First, we would like to congratulate everyone that participated in Season 3 of the 28-Day Metabolic Switch Challenge and helped to make it a success! It was another great season, and each season seems to raise the bar even higher.

[Slow metabolism? Avoid these mistakes so that it’s not your fault!]

If you’re like most of our clients and busy professionals that we work with, you probably think you just have a “slow metabolism.”

In reality, the crash dieting, program hopping, influencer fad diet believing, back and forth, start and stopping, or thinking about starting every other week is the reason you’re not cranking up your metabolism.

In fact, it’s not your fault because of all the confusion out there!

Let’s just say that “muscle confusion” is just that, confusing... 🤔

Cranking up your metabolism is something that you can “switch” on at any moment!

Avoid these 5 mistakes!

1️⃣ Improper protein intake - eat protein in every meal in a good amount! Protein helps prevent the loss of muscle mass. Losing muscle decreases your metabolism.

2️⃣ Inappropriate time for dieting - muscle helps increase metabolism, so try to build some muscle with a solid weight training or body weight routine before dieting so that you can sculpt your body instead of looking like a frail bird.

3️⃣ Too much cardio - too much cardio paired with a low-calorie deficit creates havoc on your metabolism. Not to mention (barring avid runners and cyclists) it’s boring and hard to stick to long term. Try throwing cardio movements into your weight sessions to maximize your sculpting and transform quickly!

4️⃣ Sleep - ignoring the importance of sleep is severely detrimental to your ability to burn fat. Some are wired differently and can handle low amounts of sleep. But for the rest of the 99%, adequate sleep is the only way to maximize fat loss. Lack of sleep messes with your insulin sensitivity and makes you store fat more than burn.

5️⃣ Persistence - overcoming the fall offs and learning to stay on track, even if you veer off, having a set of guidelines and a coach or accountability group is the best way to make sure you hit your goals! They will help you find what works for your body so that you can have a fun time reaching your goals instead of dreading it!

Once you understand your mistakes, then maintaining a good metabolism will not be a challenge for you.

The most common myth that we hear is that eating healthy means eating less food. However, this is not true. The goal when comparing two types of food is to look at the nutrient density. In other words, how much nutrition are you getting for the same amount of calories?

In this example, one burger with cheese (not including the condiments and sides) has the same amount of calories as
a Whole Grain Turkey Sandwich, a side salad, 1 banana, one greek yogurt with added fruit, and 1 cup of berries.

When it comes to calories it's not about counting them or deprivation. It's about quality over quantity!

You can actually eat more and gain less!

DINING OUT FOOD TRAPS - 3 TIPS ON MAKING EATING OUT STRESS-FREE (EDITED) (POSTED)

We always tell our clients that you plan your nutrition around your life, not the other way around. In other words, don’t obsess with your plan so much that you forget to enjoy life. 🎉🎉

You CAN enjoy eating out and still stick to your nutrition plan! 💪 With a little planning - you can focus on enjoying the company of friends and family instead of STRESSING OUT.

Here are 3 tips to help bust the stress around eating out:

👉TIP #1: Look up the restaurant menu ahead of time. It sounds simple, but knowing what you are going to eat before you get there reduces spontaneous order (which leads to trouble.)

👉TIP #2: When you get to the restaurant, pick from meals that consist of proteins, fats and veggies. For example, a meal containing chicken, broccoli, and avocado. We know that the bread on the table might be calling you, and the tortilla chips always look tasty. But, skip the appetizers and have a salad (with the dressing on the side) with your meal instead.

👉TIP #3: Drink a lot of water. Shoot for three glasses - one before, one during, and one after the meal (even if you are going to have an adult beverage.😉)
