The folks at Sea Tow had some good tip for #socialdistancing while on the water so we decided to share and remind you to visit https://www.tn.gov/twra/boating.html for all things #boating in Tennessee.
In following the latest guidance on COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), federal agency leadership, and state and local authorities, the participating agencies who offer reservations through Recreation.gov have decided to extend the temporary fee waiver announced last week.
The agencies will waive any fees and provide a full refund for visitor-initiated cancellations submitted after March 1 for camping reservations (including campsites, day use, group sites, cabins, and lookouts) at facilities which remain open to the public with arrival dates beginning March 10 through April 30.
Customers who choose to cancel reservations during this time will receive two refunds - one for the initial cancellation, minus the cancellation fee, and a second for the cancellation fee. This second refund is processed separately and should show up within 7-10 days. Please do not reach out to the contact center regarding these refunds.
Recreation.gov will continue to monitor the situation and coordinate closely with our agency partners to ensure policies and guidance reflect the latest information on this evolving situation.

Dale Hollow Damsite, Obey River and Lillydale campgrounds will not be opening as scheduled due to COVID-19. Customers that have an existing reservation through May 15, 2020 should have received a notice by email. The campsites were placed on closure and existing reservations will remain in the system “just in case” we can open earlier. Reservation holders will have the opportunity to choose to cancel their reservations and receive a full refund or keep the reservations in the event that the campsites open prior to their stay. If cancelled these reservations cannot be automatically re-booked. If the park does not open by the reservation date, customers will need to enter their account and process as instructed via the email in order to get the full refund.
For status updates regarding future campground open dates please check back regularly to the www.Recreation.gov site and view the banner at the top of the campground reservation page or look at the available sites tab to see if the closure has been removed and dates are open to reserve. Information will also be posted to Dale Hollow Lake’s page.

I would like explain what happened at East Port Marina...… the entire lake is not flooded, in fact we needed some water.... we still need more water.... just not that much in just a couple hours.
in the dale hollow lake water basin..... 10 inches of rain fell in a very short period near east port.
that caused a huge wall of water with trees and debris to come down the west fork of the obey river.
that debris wall hit our dock so hard it blew all the trees and debris on top of the docks and continued to pile high until the force busted the docks apart or push every slip down river.
our dock had new stainless cables and most every anchor was dragged towards sunset. the cables did not break.
the huge about of trees and debris that pushed 13 miles to sunset all had to go by east port first. the lake widens a lot at sunset. imagine that amount of debris blowing by east port.
The houseboats have trackers and were moving at 4 MPH at one point..... using the engine we get just 7 MPH..... Just shows you how much force the water and debris had.
The good news,.... the water temp with the rain went up a good bit.... hopefully the walleye will start the trip up the east fork.
Shows you how fast the current was moving even as of yesterday.

East Port Marina vs Mother Nature DAY TWO.
Absolutely overwhelmed with the support from friends and customers from around the country. People I don’t even know offering to drive hundreds of miles towing a boat to help us get put back together. Marinas all over Dale Hollow and even Center Hill Lake offered to help locate all our missing slips and docks. Normans Marine dropped everything and rush to our rescue this morning. Local police, water rescue, the county Highway department, 911, friends and neighbors all reached out and offered help. Our banker, insurance company, lawyer, and many of our vendors all showed up or offered help. I bet if I said yes we would have 300 people show up to help. Thank you all.
Couple things I am not needing at this point. We are insured and will be up and running as quickly as we can. There are other people that need donations. I know you mean well.....but do not set up “ go fund me” accounts, or collect and send us money. There are way better places and better causes than East Port Marina.
What I do need....
1. If you have a 24’ tritoon trailer I can borrow for a couple weeks.
2. If you can fix houseboat rails, canvas, slides.... and can do it quickly so we are ready for the season. I need you.
3. If your a annual slip renter.... could you please bring your trailer and take your boat out for a couple weeks so we can get the slips built or repaired. A lot more rain is coming next week..... would like to avoid damaging boats.
4. If you have a reservation.... we are committed to being ready for Spring Fishing and your summer vacation. Please give us a chance to keep your business.
5. If you need to make a reservation for the summer.... Dale Hollow is the place to be. And East Port is building a bunch of new stuff.
6. Nathan and Jesse will be at the Indy Boat Show. We have huge booth and now rent and sell Paddle Boards and Vibe Kayaks. The rivers might be a bit fierce at times.... but they are beautiful to see on one of our kayaks.
7. Our plan was to offer extended hours and double the seating in our restaurant this summer...... music at our grand opening on March 20/21..... come see the new and improved East Port.
Thank you all once again.... we love Dale Hollow Lake and all of you that have supported us the last 12 years.
Richard, Wendy, Nathan, and the entire East Port Crew.
Dale Hollow Lake
A BIG SHOUT OUT to the Dale Hollow Marina Association and loyal lake lovers! Today East Port Marina suffered damage to their dock due to an inflow of flood water into Dale Hollow Lake. Rising waters, bringing increased floating debris, resulted in the majority of the dock structure becoming dislodged. Today, approximately 200 volunteers, from over half of the lake-wide marinas and concerned boaters, have assisted East Port Marina in retrieving the floating structures and vessels. As of this post, all vessels have been accounted for and returned to their slips with none sunk. It could take some time for the slips to be returned to their original location within the marina layout. Much thanks to those who helped. A reminder for those boating during times of excessive rain, like Dale Hollow has experience lately, is to use caution and be extra alert for floating debris and underwater hazards.
East Port Marina
The pontoon was found at sunset. The blue boat is at sunset. All the slips are at Big Hollow.
If anyone is on the lake and sees any free floating boats please secure them to the shoreline, take a picture and post on East Port page.
Please keep Richard DeVries ,his family and staff in your prayers as well as all the other marinas that have staff members that are out on the water looking for boats.
