As highlighted by Dork, Violet Grohl performs with, and delivers, undeniable sincerity. She’s bringing that same energy to Boston in just a few short weeks. Catch her on September 24th at Crystal Ballroom as a part of the Fenway Recordings Sessions, a special one we are extremely proud to host.

This handwritten set list is from Mission of Burma’s first show in 19 years, held at Irving Plaza in New York in January 2002.

What was meant to be a pair of reunion shows became the beginning of one of indie rock’s most remarkable second acts. After disbanding in 1983, Mission of Burma returned with the same urgency and innovation that made them legends in the first place. The overwhelming response to these performances inspired the band to keep going, leading to four critically acclaimed albums: ONoffON (2004), The Obliterati (2006), The Sound the Speed the Light (2009), and Unsound (2012). Rather than revisiting their past, each record proved the band was still pushing boundaries. The reunion and subsequent shows were captured in the documentary Not A Photograph, which was released in 2006.

Fenway Recordings’ first employee, Ric Dube, framed this set list and gave it to Mark, and it’s been one of our favorite pieces ever since.

Swipe to see a photo from that unforgettable day, featuring Mission of Burma bassist and vocalist Clint Conley.
