Why your brain forgets the pain: trauma bond journaling 💔 The reason you keep taking a narcissist back.

Learn how journaling helps break a trauma bond and clear the brain fog.

Why do you keep taking back someone who hurt you? It isn’t weakness. Your brain forgets pain, and that’s what lets you make excuses and let them back in.

Right when you’re ready to walk out, a narcissist throws in a crumb of kindness. Your brain grabs onto it, because who doesn’t want that hit of dopamine?

That’s where journaling comes in. When you reread your own words, you remember what really happened, not the version the narcissist tells you.

✅ See the truth, not the gaslighting version
✅ Stop making excuses for the abuse
✅ Clear the brain fog
✅ Break the cycle and move forward

Writing things down is one of the most powerful tools in narcissistic abuse recovery.

💬 Have you tried journaling to break a trauma bond? Tell us what helped you remember the truth. Your story could help someone else stay free.

The 3 stages of trauma bonding explained 💔 Why a narcissist’s love feels so real, then so cruel.

Learn how the narcissistic abuse cycle works, and how to break the trauma bond.

Ever felt like you’d met your soulmate, then watched them turn cruel, yet you still couldn’t leave? You’re not weak, and you’re not crazy. It’s trauma bonding.

Here are the 3 stages of the cycle:

💗 Stage 1: Idealization. Love bombing puts you on a pedestal, and you feel chosen and special.
💔 Stage 2: Devaluation. Criticism, gaslighting, and cruelty leave you confused and desperate for the good times.
🌤️ Stage 3: A small amount of kindness. Hope returns, and you wonder if this is the turning point.
🔁 Then it all starts again.

Each round floods your brain with dopamine and oxytocin, which is why it feels like love. Recognizing the stages is the first step in narcissistic abuse recovery.

💬 Which stage was hardest for you to see? Tell us in the comments. Your story could help someone feel less alone.

Trauma bonding explained: why you keep going back to a narcissist 💔 You’re not addicted to them, you’re addicted to the cycle.

Learn how the narcissistic abuse cycle hooks your brain, and how to break the trauma bond.

You know the relationship is hurting you. Everyone around you can see it. So why can’t you walk away?

It isn’t weakness, and you’re not crazy. It’s trauma bonding.

Here’s how the cycle works:

💗 Love bombing: everything feels perfect, and your brain is flooded with dopamine and oxytocin
💔 Devaluation: criticism, gaslighting, the silent treatment, and cruelty
🌤️ A crumb of kindness: just enough to bring the hope back
🔁 The cycle starts again

Your brain gets hooked on the highs and lows, so you’re not addicted to the person. You’re addicted to the cycle. Understanding this is the first step in narcissistic abuse recovery.

💬 Tell us in the comments: what kept you going back, and what finally helped you break free? Your story could help someone feel less alone.
