Cody’s frame is repaired and back from powder coating. Next up dzus springs, mount the body and start taking the old wrap off to get ready for some new graphics.

What a fun day for the Benker Racing crew at Barona Speedway 8/16/25!

Peter Benker #13 finished 2nd in the main and also 2nd in the heat race in his Lightning Sprint!

Cody Benker #68 finished 3rd in the main and 2nd in the heat race in his Lightning Sprint!

Scarlett Benker finished 6th in the main and 1st in the heat race in her Sportsman Mini Dwarf!

Kelly Weitzel finished 8th in the main and 6th in the heat race in her Lightning Sprint!

Day 1 of the SoCal Lightning Sprints Summer Showdown and Dwarf Car Nationals was a blast! The track was hooked up and really fast!

Scarlett in her 13s Sportsman mini dwarf was running 3rd when engine troubles struck. They were able to get her fired back off and she entered back onto the track when a caution came. She worked her way up to 7th, but ran out of laps. Great job Scarlett!

Peter in his 13 Lightning Sprint blasted from 14th to 6th earning Hard Charger and second fastest lap time of the evening!

Cody in his 68 Lightning Sprint starting 15th ending 8th nearly tying his dad for Hard Charger by 1 position!

Kelly in her 20k Lightning Sprint shaved more time off of her lap times and made some awesome passes! This girl is on fire!

What a night at Barona Speedway!!

Peter Benker won the Lightning Sprint main event! It was a fast track and lots of great driving, amazing job to everyone and congratulations to all!

Cody Benker unfortunately had some hard luck and his finicky motor issues continued this race. Unfortunately, his motor lovingly dubbed as “showtime” has kicked the bucket. He will be back next race with a fresh motor and hopefully some better luck! 🙏

Scarlett Benker won the B Main transferring her into the A Main! In the A Main she finished 5th! We sure are proud of her growth as a driver. The Sportsman’s are a fast group of kids, great job everyone!!!

Kelly E. Weitzel had some injector problems in her car, so she borrowed 13s from the boys so that she could run the race! She blew us all away in the Heat race pulling away from some really fast drivers and leading almost all of the laps! A couple little mistakes they ended up getting around her and she still ended 3rd! In the Main she got a little nervous around all the fast guys up front, but still held her own! We are really proud of her! Great job Kelly!!!!

What a fun week at the fair! Cody, Kelly & Scarlett all picked up a win and had a TON of fun! Nathan had a blast trying out Cody’s Junior Sprint, too! It was a really fun filled week! Thank you Full Contact Racing, Kelsey, Chris and Eric for an amazing week!!

Barona Speedway

What a weekend! Scarlett Benker had a blast at the Barona Speedway Summer Shootout! Day 1 she was 4th in the A Main! Day 2 she won the B Main and made some good passes ending 5th in the A Main! We sure are proud of her!! Great job Scarlett!
