BACK TO THE BASICS 🏋🏽♂️
Now that the Buffalo Marathon is behind me, it’s time to get back to the basics.
Over the past few months, I’ve lost a lot of strength physically and mentally. Training for the marathon was one of the hardest programs I’ve ever committed to — not because of the mileage, but because of the lack of sleep. As a trainer, I fully understand how important recovery and sleep are when it comes to marathon and half-marathon prep, but I made the decision to push through and stay committed to the race regardless.
Balancing training while adjusting to life with a newborn definitely humbled me in ways I didn’t expect.
So for the rest of the year, the goal is simple: rebuild strength, regain balance, and stay consistent. Strength training fits my current season of life better, and honestly, I’m excited to fall back in love with the basics again.
We’re almost halfway through the year, and I can honestly say this first half has been one of the most humbling and rewarding experiences of my life — and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Stay consistent. Stay disciplined. Stay active.

The novelty is gone.
The routine is real.
This is where you find out whether you’ve been participating — or committing.
Four weeks of showing up.
Four weeks of stacking days.
Four weeks of quiet ex*****on.
Tempering isn’t about intensity.
It’s about proving you can be consistent before the load increases.
Next week, the work gets heavier.
So ask yourself now:
Did you build discipline —
or did you rely on motivation?

Week 3 is where fatigue starts to linger.
Not enough to stop you.
Enough to test you.
The body is adapting.
The mind starts negotiating.
This is where discipline matters most — not when things feel fresh, but when they feel routine and heavy.
Show up anyway.
Follow the plan.
Trust the process you committed to.

Massive shoutout to for pulling 200lbs! 3 years strong and still lifting Higher weights are great, but proper form is what truly matters!

Week 2 is where resistance shows up.
The excitement is gone.
The soreness is real.
The schedule starts to feel inconvenient.
This is where determination matters.
Not pushing harder — but continuing anyway.
Not looking for motivation — but honoring the decision you already made.
The work doesn’t get easier this week.
You just get more honest.
Stay consistent.
Stay uncomfortable.

Week 1 isn’t about intensity.
It’s about compliance.
Showing up when the work feels basic.
Executing without needing to feel ready.
Building the habit before chasing the outcome.
This is where devotion is built.
Determination comes later.
Discipline starts now.
I’ll be putting in the work and documenting the process as it unfolds.
If you’re applying the same standard to your own training, stay with it.

PROJECT IRON MIND.
I’m entering a 6 month training block built on Devotion, Determination, and Discipline.
The first phase is earning a PR for a marathon.
The second phase is preparing for a Spartan Ultra.
This project will demand Devotion to the process — especially when progress isn’t obvious.
Determination to keep moving forward when fatigue sets in.
And discipline to execute when motivation is gone.
This isn’t casual training.
It’s long efforts, uncomfortable work, and showing up when it would be easier not to.
I’ll be doing the work and documenting the process as it unfolds.
If you want to train alongside this block and apply the same standards to your own goals, you’re welcome to join in.
