Happy 2026 Everyone! I am living this year with the theme AGING BACKWARDS. I will be sharing ideas and information to you on this theme with the focus on strengthen your cognitive reserve.

Cognitive reserve is your brain's resilience, its ability to cope with damage or disease (like Alzheimer's) without showing obvious symptoms, by using alternative neural pathways or more efficient strategies.

Cognitive reserve is built over a lifetime through education, mentally stimulating work, social engagement, physical activity, and healthy living, allowing for better function despite brain changes, much like having many roads to a destination so one blocked road doesn't stop you.

I will be posting a weekly challenge that incorporates a few of the above mentioned components that strengthen and support brain health.

Look for my first post February 1st. Think of this as a Valentineโ€™s gift from you to your brain.

We can embark on this journey together and I welcome your engagement with your progress and participation.

Day 7 of FITmas! ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ‰ Letโ€™s get those glutes working with side leg lifts! ๐Ÿ‘ Hold onto a chair and raise your straight leg to the side 10x. Repeat 2-3x for a strong, toned b***y! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ”ฅ

Day 4!

Day 4 of FITmas! ๐ŸŽ„ Letโ€™s target that core with some leg raises! ๐Ÿ’ช Sit on the edge of your chair, straighten your legs, and raise 1 or both legs 5x. Repeat 2-3 times for a stronger abdomen, hip flexors, and lower back! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Hereโ€™s a fun one. If you have arthritic knees, modify it like this:
Stand behind the chair
Only bend your knees as far as you can comfortably do so.

๐Ÿ’ช Move of the Day: Chair Squats
๐Ÿช‘ Stand in front of a chair, sit down, then stand up 3 times.
๐Ÿ” Repeat 3x!

๐ŸŒŸ Target: Quadriceps, Hamstrings & Glutesโ€”strengthen those legs and keep moving this holiday season!
