Nonosina Polynesia Our story begins with our tupuna, Estella Reid. A native to American Samoa from the village of Faleniu, our founder was born in 1934.

Estella eventually voyaged the crystal seas of the Pacific and came to the shores of Lāʻie, Oʻahu, Hawai’i in 1946 where our roots still grow. Estella sought new endeavors in which eventually led her to California in 1950. In 1965 NONOSINA music and dance company was born from humble Polynesian beginnings and will celebrate 57 years of heART this year, 2022! Rest in love to our founder and guiding

We look back at last weekend and am so proud of our dancers that competed at Te ʻOri Here 🤍

Thank you to Le Polynesia and staff for hosting another year of Te ʻOri Here. Māuruuru roa to our esteemed judges for your time and evaluation. Faʻafetai to the house drummers for carrying the pulse of the weekend.

To our Hui Manu dancers, thank you for leaving all you had on the floor. To our Hui Manu families and friends, thank you for the love, support, patience, and belief you continue to pour into these dancers.

Deep appreciation to Aunty Tiana, Aunty Riki, Leila, Court, and Jai for the private sessions, time, and care invested behind the scenes. Respect to T & K for continuing to build and structure Hui Manu classes every weekend with intention and consistency.

We are proud of you all. Competition is one moment in time, but growth is built in the unseen hours. Let this mark your progress in technique, confidence, and discipline, while remembering this is only one tiny strand of the taura.

Stay humble. Stay hungry.

As we step into Voyage 61, we pause to honor Voyage 60.

Our 60th anniversary was more than a show. It was family, memory, and generations gathered in one space. Students and special guests shared the stage carrying story, responsibility, and love. Every moment was intentional. If you were there, you felt it.

Mahalo. Faʻafetai. Ngā mihi nui. Mauruuru.

To GRAM, for building this house.
To our AIGA, Mom and Dad, thank you for grounding us in who we are and why this work matters.
To Sia and Mele, our emcees, thank you for guiding the night with knowledge, presence, and mana.
To Court, Leila, Jaidan, and Eli, thank you for shaping each dancer beyond the steps.

To Chesser and Lasi, thank you for creating and sharing through a Māori lens.
To Manaola, for sharing mana through hula, fashion, and heart.
To Le Gafa, for strengthening us through genealogy, language, and protocol.
To Maugamu Mikaele and Hale, for lighting up every space you enter.
To Tamaitaʻi, for a decade of Siva Sāmoa in the House of GRAM.
To Nā Maka, for aloha shown through action.
To our parents and helping hands, thank you for the trust, sacrifice, and unseen work.
To our dancers, thank you for carrying legacy forward.
To the Johnsons, PM, KTLA, Mevina, Jazzy Tagaloa, and Richard, thank you for your love, support, and vision.

The House of GRAM is still here. Still standing. Still growing.

Voyage 60 lives in us.
With full hearts, we move forward into Voyage 61.

NONOSINA x MANAOLA

To commemorate our 60th anniversary of Polynesian excellence, we came together with one of our favorite designers and longtime collaborators, our dear friends at Manaola of Hawai’i. This Nonosina × Manaola manu (bird) print honors the journey shaped by time, trust, and the quiet knowing that some paths are meant to cross again and again.

Our relationship with Manaola has been built across years of travel, performance, creation, and offering culture in spaces that ask you to show up with humility. We’ve shared stages and sacred ground, and we’ve shared moments in between.
One night, on a rooftop overlooking the Honolulu city lights, watching the moon move through her phases, we talked story. About dreams. About culture. About the responsibility of carrying legacy while still daring to imagine what’s next. That conversation never really ended. It led us here.

Nonosina and Manaola are both legacy families of cultural practice and performance, grounded in where we come from while continuing to explore what it means to be modern Polynesians. Rooted, evolving, and intentional in how culture lives beyond the stage. This collaboration feels less like a debut and more like a natural arrival, right on time.

These Nonosina × Manaola pāreus are the first release of a future collaboration, but for our 60th anniversary, only the păreus will be available and sold, exclusively at the celebration. This drop belongs to this moment, carrying everything that brought us to it.

Mahalo nui loa to ‘ohana Manaola for this voyage together!
