National Association of Rocketry - Alaska Northstars In the summer we try to launch low and medium power rockets in the public parks.
One day summer afternoon we launched 54 rockets! In the winter we can focus on the high power rockets - we have FAA authorizations at Jim Creek (5,000 feet) Big Lake (10,000 feet) and Lake Louise (25,000 feet).

I have a clear view from my of Pioneer Peak and the wind is almost non-existant. Any dramatic change in the weather aside, I'm calling today's launch a "GO".

Good Evening All,
We are intending to hold a launch on Saturday, November 29th from noon to 4 pm, weather permitting of course. A "Go/ No Go" call will be made by 9:30 that morning. Attached is a map to our Knik River Launch site; the water that is shown to be blocking the way to the site is not currently there. That said, it is a bit off the road, so bringing out your custom low-rider is not advisable. Hope to see you all out there.

Hello All, So the rain has stopped, but now Pioneer Peak is covered in clouds. I'm calling today's launch a very tentative "GO". I oplan on being out there at around 11:30 this morning so stay tuned. -Shawn C.

Hello All,
I've activated the waiver for our Knik River Sandbar launch site for this coming Saturday, May 17th. Weather permitting, we will be flying between noon and 5 pm. Attached is a map of the launch site, though water is not currently blocking access to the site from the north side of the Knik River Bridge.
Final Go/No Go announcement will be given via email and on Facebook before 9 am Saturday morning.

Alright Everybody,
Looking out my window this morning, I see that what clouds there are, are way higher than than what we'll likely be flying. There is little to no wind. Temperatures are mild (relatively). Looks like a great day for flying.
Today's launch at the Knik River Sandbar is a GO! Hope to see you out there.
