Lickety-Splits Ski Camp for Kids

Share

Getting kids excited to be outdoors and on snow by incorporating Anchorage's young elite skiers.

Founded in 2011 by Tyler Kornfield, the camp continues to grow to stimulate Anchorage's blossoming ski community. This year will be the 2nd-Annual Lickety-Splits Ski Camp for Kids. It will be hosted at the Kincaid Park Chalet on Friday December 21st, the first day of winter break in Anchorage! Last year we had over 100 kids join in on the fun and we are expecting a bigger turn out this year. Check out our webpage at licketysplits.eventbrite.com for registration and more information.

The 4th annual Lickety-Splits Ski Camp for Kids was the best ever. 150 kids signed up, 23 coaches made it fun, the weather was perfect and we had a blast. I hope all of your kids had fun because I know that the coaches did. We look forward to seeing everyone back next year.

With the help of my sister and all of our friends we started this camp in 2011 as a way to give back to the Anchorage ski community that took us from Anchorage Junior Nordics, to Alaska Winter Stars, then the University of Alaska Fairbanks to finally where I am now, skiing professionally at the APUNSC Elite Team. We designed the camp to connect kids with more athletes like me who came up the same pipeline. Among those coaches eight ski professionally, 19 skied or are skiing in college, and they represent many of the ski clubs in Alaska. If you see them out on the trails, be sure to thank them.

They are:

Eric Packer, APUNSC
Scott Patterson, APUNSC
Caitlin Patterson, Craftsbury Green Team
Lex Treinen, APUNSC
David Norris, APUNSC
Becca Rorabaugh, APUNSC
Chelsea Holmes, APUNSC
Andrew Arnold, UAA
Stephanie Kirk, UVM
Marion Woods, UVM
Silas Talbot, Dartmouth
Cole Talbot, UVM
Dana Tower, Alaska Winter Stars
Karina Packer, Dartmouth
Tamra Kornfield, NSAA
Mackenzie Kanady, UAA
Kathi Schratt, UAA
Leah Droege
