Whew! What a trip! So many adventures and stories to add to the bank. Here’s a recap of the last couple days.
✅ had moose soup in Poorman! Thank you to Roger Brown a the checkers there! Appreciate the hot meal.
Galena has some amazing people that made us dinner and breakfast and let us work on a sled in a nice heated shop. I had another tree get in my way. 🫠
We didn’t leave Galena till 3:30 and pushed to Kaltag. River was very rough most of the way.
The Eskamila clan in Kaltag are AWESOME! We had shipped a box with some supplies to be able to stay at one of the blm cabins that night (dura logs and extra food). The box was personally delivered to us right at the gas pump. We watched our first pro team catch us. Team 14 showed up and took a layover. So we decided now was our opportunity to try and get to our cabin that night.
I got to excited with all this race stuff and hit another tree. I craved out a small branch and grave had some hose clamps and we made a small trail repair.
The snow was very deep leaving Kaltag and we had lots of stucks. Team 7 caught us just before the tripod flats cabin and team 5 caught us there at the cabin. We originally wanted to make old women but decided we better get out of the way. Tripod flats cabin was great! Warm and cozy. We had a great view of the trail and watched a lot of pro teams go by.
Next morning we watched a few more pros got by then we slipped in the middle and pushed to Unakleet.
I’ll do another post soon to recap more!

Whew long day! Started out leaving RPL before first lite and took in a beautiful sunrise.
Made great time on the south fork it’s very smooth and fast.
A few spots of open water but the crazy ones were easy to avoid. Tried to take the overland trail but there was so much downfall everyone had to turn around. Ended up on the the river till we hit the Post.
The burn had plenty of snow and our sleds never got above 144. Watch out for frozen bison s**t it might take your A arms out.
Speaking of A arms… Caitlin managed to mangle her first set ever on a nice solid tree. Thing came out of nowhere…
Luckily Andy from Team 42 back in Anchorage sprang into action and managed to secure us another set in McGrath! Thank you Andy, Gage, Ryder and Mansey for all your help.
Weather was fantastic all day. It’s now dumping in McGrath. We’ll see how much snow we end up with…

Big lake ➡️ Rainy Pass Lodge! Such a great day!
Thank you Cindi for lunch at Skwenta road House! We had the best time. Flat lite from big lake to McDougals but after that the sun came out.
Lots of snow everywhere but it’s all hero snow. Some overflow on the yetna but nothing major. Watch out when you take a short cut to get around somebody and jump some open water… 😬
All of trail class made it and everyone had a great ride.
Thank you to everyone that volunteered today and were there to support all of us! Love all of you ❤️.
