We are a student-run undergraduate organization dedicated to making empirical contributions to American foreign policy.

The Michigan Foreign Policy Council strives to strengthen the research skills, hard skill competencies, and foreign policy understanding of our members. Our workshops, panel discussions, policy proposal training, and other resources prepares students to with the skills, information, and experience needed to make an impact on American foreign policy after graduation.

Meet our third panelist Javed Ali!

Javed Ali was a Harry A. and Margaret D. Towsley Policymaker in Residence at the Ford School for the Fall 2018 semester and a former Senior Director for Counter-terrorism at the National Security Council (NSC). He has over twenty years of professional experience in national security and intelligence issues in Washington, D.C., and began his federal government career in 2002. During that time, Ali worked in the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. In addition to his role at the NSC, while at the FBI he also held senior positions while on joint duty assignments at the National Intelligence Council and the National Counter-terrorism Center

We will be hosting a panel TONIGHT about the Global Perspectives on National Security featuring Mike Rogers, Ambassador Rajendra Abhyankar, and Javed Ali!

Meet our second panelist Ambassador Rajendra Abhyankar!

Rajendra Abhyankar was the Indian Secretary of External Affairs from 2001-2004 and has served as the Indian Ambassador for 37 years to the European Union, Belgium and Luxemburg, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Syria, and Cyprus. He was also the Consul General of India in San Francisco, California. He currently teaches at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, Indiana University, Bloomington and was former Chairman of the Kunzru Centre for Defence Studies and Research, Pune.

This Friday, we will be hosting a panel about the Global Perspectives on National Security featuring Mike Rogers, Ambassador Rajendra Abhyankar, and Javed Ali!

Meet our first panelist Mike Rogers!

Mike J. Rogers is a former member of Congress representing Michigan's Eighth Congressional District, officer in the U.S. Army, and FBI special agent. From 2011 to 2015, he was Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee where he he authorized and oversaw a $70 billion budget that funded the 17 intelligence agencies. Rogers is a regular CNN national security commentator, host of CNN’s “Declassified” and regularly contributes to major print outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Wall Street Journal.
