Nix is eating 6 meals a day, now that it’s getting colder, her meals are being warmed up. She’s getting the best supplements and has turnout as she wishes. As winter progresses, she gets back on her usual routine of meals twice a day and unlimited hay. This is Piper’s usual routine. They are both blooming and blossoming and everything was going well … until it wasn’t.

Or so we thought, Nix, being our biggest Diva doesn’t know about smooth sailing til delivery. She deems herself an inside girl with minimal turnout. In July , she had her first Pneumabort vaccine, she had them again in September and November (safeguard against losing the foal). Around October, she began to show signs of colic. We usually don’t haul a pregnant mare after 100 days but she was loaded up and hauled to her home away from home, the vet hospital. She was treated for colitis and our vet came up with a meal plan for feeding her six times a day. We brought her home and began the new feed schedule, which she loved but the other horses were very jealous. Smooth sailing….right, it wasn’t.

It’s just a horse … But it’s actually also something with a lot of thought and planning. This breeding was initiated in the fall of 2024. A talented stallion and a beautiful, well-pedigreed mare were selected for our next foal. Nix was bred March 14 2025 and was confirmed in foal on March 28, 2025.

328 days ago Piper had a date with VS GoodRide, this morning we welcomed this precious baby into the world, momma and baby doing great!!

Saturday night was prom night, so a few of us from the Rockwall Sherrif’s Posse patrolled the event from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am along with our prom dates. Wrath was such a good boy and so dapper in all black with neon blue leg wraps.

Sawyer and Cat, our new foals, got out together for the first time yesterday. It’s Cat’s first time ever. They run til they’re exhausted and then rest under the watchful eyes of Moms and Auntie Piper

He’s resting while Mom grazes. He loves his time out. ❤️
