Mason District Running Festival 2021 has been CANCELLED!!! See you in 2022.

As most of you know one of our running festivals goals was always to raise funds for Shelter House, local non-profit that helps homeless victims of domestic violence. We understand many have been impacted by the current situation, but if you are in position to help, the Shelter House Amazon wish list may be a good place to start.

Due to COVID-19 and the sudden transition to a virtual learning environment, Shelter House has launched a school supply drive to ensure that the children we serve have all the necessary school supplies for 100% distance learning. The new virtual drive is a welcome addition to our traditional annual school supply campaign since the need in our community is greater than ever for children going back to school due to the economic impacts of the pandemic. www.shelterhouse.org

The award is addressed to Get Up And Go Coaching, but it belongs to all the runners, donors, sponsors, volunteers, local media, ... everyone, who was at one point or another involved with our running festivals.

We would also like to inform you that due to the current situation we have decided to skip the 2020 festival and hopefully be back in September of 2021.

Shelter House is near and dear to us. They need help during this challenging time to feed victims of domestic violence in their shelters. Surely there is an organization out there that can help them, so please share the post so it can reach it.

Are you or your company able to help supply meals at our Katherine Hanley Family Shelter during this critical time? We are in need of delivered lunches and dinners (boxed is acceptable) on a regular basis, as our kitchen staffing is limited. Having prepared food for our families would be a HUGE help for our staff. We currently have 24 families in this facility, 72 individuals.

Coat and Winter Accessories Drive!

In the spirit of Humanity First, the NoVA Yang Gang organizes coat drive, benefiting Fairfax County based Shelter House, which assists homeless families and victims of domestic violence.

The drive runs till Monday, 12/23, to give everyone a chance to make a drop off. Please bring your donations (mildly used or new coats, gloves, hats, scarfs, sweaters etc.) to one of the two drop off locations that generously offered to collect the donations:

For those looking to go beyond marathon -- our festival partner Devil Dog Ultras brings to our backyard (Prince William Forest Park) in early December (7-8/12) a wonderfully organized event with two distances: 100K and 100M. The course is not easy, but is not technical; runners do (3 or 5) 20 mile loops with very modest elevation. Perfect for newbies, but even experienced runners get their thrill. Give it a try.
