My rings are:
Red: 400 cals burnt
Green: 30 minutes of exercise
Blue: 12 hours of moving (moving at least a min/hr)
I’m trying my hardest to get a 30 minute workout in everyday. Maybe it’s just a walk or maybe it’s a few tabatas, or some weight lifting. But I feel good!!!

-15 lunge pulses, lifting your back foot slightly, chest to your quad
-15 curtsy lunge pulses, back knee nice and low, chest on quad, lifting back foot slightly
-Switch legs and repeat the last two!
-20 squat jumps
-rest for a sec, perfect spot to stay hydrated, repeat it all for a total of three times all the way through!!!

Looking for a great workout while stuck at home? Here's what I did this morning...and all you need is a deck of cards and some energy!
Start by writing down 4 different exercises. I like to pick at least 1 that will get my heart pumping and 3 strength moves. Assign each exercise to a card suit. Then start flipping cards! You do whatever exercise you assigned to that suit for the number shown on the card. You can modify this by cutting the deck in half or go all out and complete the entire deck of cards.
This morning's workout looked like this:
Hearts - Pushups
Spades - Floor Tricep Dips
Clubs - Squat Jumps
Diamonds - Sumo Squats
I did knee pushups and added a 15lb dumbbell for the sumo squats. You can modify however you'd like! You can take the jump out of the squats or add more weight to any of them. Goal is to get through the whole deck as quickly (with good form) as possible...little rest between cards.
Jack - 11
Queen - 12
King - 13
Ace - 15!
And the beauty of this workout is that you can pick any exercises you want! Enjoy!
One good thing about being stuck at home is that I can get outside with the pup! Loving our early morning walks 🐕

Arugula - Great source of fiber and vital nutrients such as calcium, potassium and vitamins C, K, A as well as folate...plus studies show it combats bad breath!
Chicken - Great source of protein
Avocado - Healthy fats...keep your blood sugar stable and help in avoiding rises and dips causing you to overeat. Also, healthy fats send signals to the brain that you are full
Olive Oil - loaded with antioxidants! And tastes amazing!
I add some salt and ground pepper as well as some cherry tomatoes! YUM!
My Mexican Skillet Dinner tonight was so simple, I made it before Sean and I went to @jamescrumlins CAPITAL STAIR WORKOUT ( which I love so much and you guys should go. It’s FREE) so it’s all ready for when we get home!!!! I love simple dinners and I’m adding this one to my PRETTY MUSCLES app on my meal plan. Lots and lots of delicious recipes on there. If you haven’t gotten my PRETTY MUSCLES app yet, tonight is your night to go download it!
* 1 (16 oz) package extra lean ground turkey
* 1/2 yellow onion diced
* 1/2 red bell pepper diced
* 1/2 green bell pepper diced
* 2 (1 oz) packets low sodium taco seasoning
* 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes drained
* 1 (4 oz) can diced green chiles drained
* I did 2 pouches cauliflower rice 14 oz
* 1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
* salt to taste
This is so easy:
* Heat a large non stick skillet over medium - medium high heat.
* Spray with cooking spray and add in ground meat, onion, bell peppers, and taco seasoning.
* Cook, breaking up the meat as you go, until the meat is cooked through, about 10 minutes.
* Once cooked, stir in tomatoes, green chiles, rice, and broth.
* Simmer about 5-10 minutes, or until heated through.
* Taste and season with salt, to taste and serve
* With whatever, I used jalapeños, avocado, Oaxaca cheese (Mexican cheese)
Do you make or buy smoothies, protein shakes, etc?
It’s sooo important to know what ingredients go into your shakes. A lot of times they are loaded with added sugar and other nasty ingredients. Your best bet is to make your own with fresh ingredients and a protein powder that isn’t loaded with tons of bad ingredients.
I use a protein powder, frozen organic fruit, unsweetened almond milk or water, ground flaxseeds, plain almond butter, and a few handfuls of spinach & kale. It supplies me with protein, healthy fat, fiber, and tons of vitamins and minerals. You can add plain Greek yogurt for a thicker consistency if you can tolerate the dairy.
Careful when buying protein powder too! They can be loaded with unhealthy ingredients. Look for powders that the first ingredient is the protein...it’s not loaded with sugar...the ingredient list is short.

Have you tried ghee?
Ghee is clarified butter. The butter is heated and the milk solids (lactose, whey, casein) are removed. It’s a great option if you are lactose intolerant. It contains butyrate which is shown to improve gut health and CLA which increases fat loss.
If you try it, be sure to look for organic and grass fed. And you can store it at room temp! It’s a great addition to your kitchen.

Have you heard of Collagen Peptides?
I'm seeing them all over the market and have actually started incorporating them into my morning coffee...but do they actually work?
Here's an interesting article on webmd that explains a little more about this new and upcoming supplement. It talks about how these may help to increase skin elasticity, hair and nail growth, gut health, and promote joint health. Overall, it seems like the verdict is still out, but there may not be any harm in adding them to your morning smoothie.
There are actually 5 different types of collagen and it can be derived mostly from cows and fish. In cows, it's from the bones, tendons, ligaments, and other parts. The different types are supposed to support different areas of the body from which they are derived. For example, Type I supports bones, ligaments, tendons, and skin...Type V is found in your hair.
One key note to point out is making sure you are buying from a reputable source. I prefer to purchase a multi-type from grass-fed beef. Check the labels and the company before buying. And of course, DO YOUR RESEARCH!

These are all questions you should be asking yourself when you are looking at different eating plans and diets. There are soooo many out there and you really need to know the answers to these questions before you can pick one that will work for you.
For example, I know that I can eat the same thing over and over again and that I don't have time to cook a full meal every time I need to eat. I also know that I have picky eaters in my home. For me, choosing to learn about nutrition and ways we can make lifestyle changes is a better long term idea than following a very strict diet that involves drastic changes. But, maybe you have a different goal?
