Great way to serve the community.

Can you help? The Annville American Legion does a fantastic job every year putting flags on our local Veteran's graves and they could use our help covering Grandview Cemetery. If you are interested in volunteering see the flyer attached for details.

[02/23/21]   Congrats to Mac Plummer for being named to the 2021 PA East-West All-Star Game. Besides the Big 33, this is the highest honor a football player from PA can achieve on the state level, only 2 other A-C players have achieved this type of recognition (Dale Gingrich and Jeff Morrow).

The game will be played on May 30th at 1pm at Landis Field Stadium in Harrisburg, Pa.

SECTION 3-4 CROSSOVER

Lancaster Catholic (1-6) at Annville-Cleona (3-4): The Crusaders are feeling fine and dandy after surviving Lebanon 15-12 in OT last Friday for their first win this season. The Little Dutchmen — how’s this for coincidence — are also coming off an OT win, 29-28 over Pequea Valley. … Key stat: A-C has yielded 1,910 rushing yards, most in the L-L League. … Key kids: Catholic K-P Daniel Mueller and A-C K-P Mac Plummer were all-state performers last fall, and are two of the best specialists in the business in the area.

Lancaster Catholic at Annville-Cleona, 7 p.m.

The two former Section 3 rivals get together in this crossover contest at A-C, with both coming off emotional overtime victories.

The Dutchmen (3-4) survived Pequea Valley 29-28 in OT, while Lancaster Catholic picked up its first win by edging Lebanon 15-12.

So what happens this week? Hard to say, but A-C may have a little more motivation since a win would put it at the .500 mark for the season. Not bad for a rebuilding year, if the Dutchmen can get the win.

Last week's top performers

Gavin Keller, Annville-Cleona

Keller led A-C to the dramatic OT win at Pequea Valley scoring the game-tying touchdown in OT, and hitting Kenny Schaeffer with the game-winning 2-point conversion pass.

11/06/2020

Congrats to Gavin Keller for being voted as The Lebanon Daily News Male athlete of the week. Also, congrats to Chase Maguire on his runner-up finish for Pennlive LL player of the week.

#acdutchmenfootball

[11/05/20]   Congrats to Logan Wagner for being named Section 4 Lineman of the Week for the 3rd time this season.

#acdutchmenfootball

LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Logan Wagner, OT-LB, Annville-Cleona — In the Dutchmen’s thrilling OT victory over Pequea Valley, Wagner earned a high blocking grade on offense, helping A-C rush for 215 yards. And on defense, Wagner piled up 11 tackles, including six solo sticks for the Dutchmen.

Annville-Cleona edges Pequea Valley in overtime thriller

After a blowout loss in Week Six against Octorara, Annville-Cleona bounced back with a tight 29-28 overtime win on the road Friday night at Pequea Valley.

The Lancaster-Lebanon League Section Four win marks the Dutchmen's fifth consecutive victory over PV since 2015.

X's and O's

Coming off back-to-back 0-10 campaigns, PV made the most of a chance to snap its 24-game slide — previously the L-L League's longest active losing streak — in Week Six with a 14-0 victory at Northern Lebanon.

Annville-Cleona (2-3 L-L, 3-4 overall), which advanced to last year's District Three playoffs, capitalized on a similar opportunity in Week Seven to turn around its 2020 season.

Play-by-play

Midway through the first quarter, Braves' QB Nate Fisher pounded in a 19-yard touchdown to put PV up 7-0.

From there, the Dutchmen's Chase Maguire answered with two touchdowns of his own — on runs of 12 and 17 yards — to regain a 14-7 lead by halftime.

The Braves, however, rattled off three scores — two touchdowns and a safety — to tie the game at 21-21 in the fourth quarter.

With seven seconds left in regulation, the Dutchmen’s Mac Plummer missed a 42-yard kick to send it into overtime.

On the first possession of OT, Fisher took an 11-yard keeper into the end zone, putting the Braves up 28-21.

Annville-Cleona QB Gavin Keller responded with a 10-yard TD run, and a connection with Kenny Schaeffer on a two-point conversion, to seal PV's fate, 29-28.

Players of the game

Maguire rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.

Fisher accounted for 142 all-purpose yards and four TDs — three on the ground and one through the air.

SECTION 4 HELMET STICKERS

Annville-Cleona: A multi-purpose kinda night for Chase Maguire, who rushed for 67 yards with a pair of scores, and he caught a couple of passes for 38 yards as the Little Dutchmen edged Pequea Valley 29-28 in OT. Maguire’s TD runs covered 17 and 12 yards, giving A-C a 14-7 lead at halftime. And a sticker for QB Gavin Keller, who saw his first extended action in a game behind center for the Dutchmen. He clicked on 6 of 9 passes and rushed for 36 yards, including the go-ahead TD in OT for A-C. Keller also tossed a 2-point conversion pass for the final margin after his OT TD keeper.

Anville-Cleona 29, Pequea Valley 28 (OT)

In Kinzers, A-C pulled out the dramatic win in overtime via a touchdown and subsequent two-point conversion after the Pequea had scored on the first possession of OT.

Now 3-4, the Dutchmen led 21-7 in the third after Rogan Harter's 70-yard touchdown run, only to see the Braves storm back with 14 straight points to eventually force overtime.

On the first possession of OT, Nate Fisher scored on an 11-yard run to give Pequea a 28-21 lead and force A-C into do-or-die mode.

Needing a score to keep the game alive, Matt Gingrich's squad got just that when Gavin Keller scored on a 10-yard run to slice the deficit to 28-27. Instead of kicking a game-tying extra point and extending the extra session, A-C elected to go for two and the win and was successful when Keller hit Kenny Schaeffer with a pass in the end zone.

Chase Maguire also ran for two touchdowns for Annville-Cleona in the first half, while helping it pile up 231 yards on the ground.

SECTION 4

Annville-Cleona (1-3, 2-4) at Pequea Valley (1-3, 1-4): This is a makeup game between the Little Dutchmen and the Braves, who are feeling fine after snapping a 24-game losing streak with a 14-0 win over Northern Lebanon last Friday. A-C has won the last four games in this series, and will unleash its triple-option attack against PV, which will need a strong rush-D performance. ... Key kid: PV DB Carter Rohrer (team-high 31 tackles, 3 INT) must help limit the Dutchmen’s Veer scheme.

Flying under the radar: Lebanon County's unsung heroes of the gridiron

They don't grab many of the headlines or receive much of the glory. They're not necessarily the guy opponents look to stop first, and they're not likely to be in the near future. But they can play and if you don't take them seriously, they can burn you. They are Lebanon County's top under-the-radar performers for the 2020 football season, and they're about to get their due. Or at least some of it, before we look ahead to this week's action on the gridiron.

Rogan Harter, Annville-Cleona

A-C doesn't have a ton of offensive weapons and has struggled at 2-4, but Harter has been a game-breaking threat in the backfield all season, averaging 12.2 yards per attempt on his 33 carries.

He's also a track kid, which obviously helps him run away from opponents on the football field.

Annville-Cleona at Pequea Valley, 7 p.m.

As noted, it's been a tough season for the 2-4 Dutchmen, but this trip to Kinzers and next week's tussle with Lancaster Catholic, give A-C a chance to finish strong.

[10/29/20]   Lancaster online:

Annville-Cleona at Pequea Valley: PV QB Nate Fisher had 119 rushing yards and a TD and PV RB Tony Lazar had 118 rushing yards and a TD in last week’s 14-0 win over Northern Lebanon, as the Braves snapped a 24-game losing streak. Now they have some momentum, and a hot ground attack. All eyes on the Little Dutchmen to stuff that rush, meaning another busy night for ball-hawker LB Logan Wagner, who has a team-best 63 tackles, with six stops for losses and a pair of sacks. … And this: A-C has yielded 1,732 rushing yards — most in the league.

Congrats Chase!

[10/25/20]   Lancaster Online:

#acdutchmenfootball

ANNVILLE-CLEONA: The Little Dutchmen showed some ability to move the ball against Octorara’s first-string defense late in the second quarter. A-C drove 48 yards to the Braves' 5-yard line and faced a 4th-and-1. Down 20-0 at the time, the Dutchmen went for it. Their running play was stopped and they were kept off the board until the third quarter. Touchdown runs by Chase Maguire and Gavin Keller were the second-half highlights in a 41-13 loss.

Chase Maguire, Annville-Cleona — 11 carries for 115 yards, 1 TD vs. Octorara

[10/23/20]   Game preview from The Lebanon Daily News and Lancaster online.

#acdutchmenfootball

Octorara at Annville-Cleona, 7 p.m.

Fresh off that 44-7 thumping by Columbia, the Dutchmen return home to scrap with 4-1 Octorara, coming off a 49-27 beating of Pequea Valley.

Now 2-3, A-C has shown improvement in recent weeks due in part to the running back duo of Rogan Harter and Alex Long, but will be severely tested by an Octorara club whose only defeat was that narrow setback vs. Elco a few weeks back.

Octorara at Annville-Cleona: Braves’ QB Weston Stoltzfus was nearly perfect in last Friday’s 49-27 triumph over rival Pequea Valley: 10 for 11 for 196 yards with three TD strikes. Octorara will bring the league’s top-ranked offense into this clash, and with a red-hot passing attack, the Little Dutchmen’s secondary will be tested; DB Kenny Schaeffer(16 tackles, 1 INT, 2 pass breakups, 1 fumble recovery) and DB Andrew Eby (39 tackles, 3 for losses, 2 pass breakups) can’t let Stoltzfus throw into clean windows. … And this: A-C has yielded 1,292 rushing yards, most in the league. While the Dutchmen must limit Stoltzfus up top, they must also keep tabs on Octorara RB Mike Trainor, who had a 213-yard, 3-TD night last week vs. Pequea Valley.

Octorara (3-1, 4-1) at Annville-Cleona (1-2, 2-3): The Braves and the Little Dutchmen will collide for the third time, and A-C is 2-0 in this series, with a 34-7 win last year and a 39-30 victory in 2018, Octorara’s first year in the league. A-C’s top priority is slowing down the Braves’ piping-hot offense, which is cranking out 426 yards a game, tops in the league. ... Key kid: Octorara two-way terror Mike Trainorhas 511 rushing yards and seven TD runs, plus 26 tackles for the Braves.

A new season is upon us!

We’re gearing up for another season of Dutchmen Football. We hope that you will join us in supporting the football program at all levels.
