Fall is in the air, you can smell it. Not by the turning of the leaves, nor the crispness in the evening air, but by the aroma of that Friday Night Lights Chicken Q.
This Friday the Raiders play host to Whitehall in the first home game of the year, kicked off by the annual Freshmen Chicken Q. We game planned for 450 meals. Once they are gone, they are gone! Come early, get your meal, and stick around for some high school entertainment on the field.
Things start to move fast this time of year. The start of school is just around the corner, high school activities begin to fill our schedules, and a lot of times it's just a quick snack on the go. So come get a good home cooked chicken meal to start out the season. We hope to see you there, and we thank you for your support!

UWL K-4 BASEBALL ACADEMY REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Our K-4 Camps are back! After a few years away, we are continuing the success of our fall leagues and past K-4 grade camps with the reintroduction of baseball for younger campers focusing on skill development on Saturday mornings this fall (September 17, 24 and October 1). The quality of the attention each player receives is top notch, and directly comes from the interaction with our UWL players, directed by our UWL Coaching Staff. These sessions will focus on the two main areas of need for this age group: Skill Development & Game Play. Campers will be divided generally into grades K-2, and 3-4, with more specific grade groups for station work.

This year, we will begin a 3-year term rotation on the Arcadia Youth Association board of directors. The board consists of 9 members. This year 3 current members will expire and 3 new members can join. This will repeat annually.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining the board, please send an email to [email protected] to express interest. All nominations are due by end of day Sept 11th, 2022.
FALL Baseball & Softball is a great opportunity for your child to continue working on their skills and to prepare for next season. The programs offer team or individual signup, which can be a great opportunity to play with other youth from the area.

After a 2 year hiatus, the coaching staff and players with UWL Baseball invite you to participate in our 11th year of successful fall baseball! We will be offering our traditional leagues for 5-6th grades, 7-8th grades, and 9-12th grades. (Other camps for grades K-2 and 3-4 offered separately).

I’m at the Nike Nationals girls basketball tournament. It is the biggest tournament of the year for high school girls basketball. The best of the best players and college coaches are competing for scholarship opportunities and rankings.
Do you want to know the statement I hear the most? “They have to want it more than I do.”
I hear that from both coaches and parents. They are frustrated that they seem to want more for their athletes than their athletes want for themselves.
And they are right. Former NFL player and ESPN analyst David Pollack said, “There is only one person in the end who will determine if your kid will be great, and that is your kid - not you. Only your kid can decide if they will be great.”
So, what can we do? Kobe Bryant said:
“We have to try to put them in different things and expose them to as many things as possible, and then see if there is one thing that connects with them. Because if it does, you don’t have to tell them to do it. If they have that passion, they’ll go off and do it on their own because it’s just fun and they would rather do that than anything else. As parents, it’s our job to expose them to as many things as possible and see which one they gravitate to the most.”
One of my goals is to expose my girls to as many different experiences, on and off the court, as possible to see what they connect with. On the court, taking younger girls to see college and WNBA female athletes can connect with them and inspire them in ways that my words can’t. Hopefully, one of those connections will set something off inside of them and that will motivate them to work hard without needing me to push them.
And hopefully the experience that we connect them with off the court will inspire them to do things outside of basketball than can stick when they are done playing.

This is my WHY. Why I do the JFWS, why I’m not in a rush when signing softballs late after the games, why I use my platform to empower and encourage the next generation… because of girls just like Paisley, who are coming up behind me. I want them to run even further than me! I want them to know anything is possible if they just dream and believe (and work hard;) I want them to know their voice matters and they can make a difference in the world. I want them to be trained up so they have a solid foundation to run on. It’s time to pass the baton to the younger generation and run alongside of them ❤️
