Hydrated by Holy Spirit

Vision from God has been a common theme amongst many churches as we step into this new year. We speak about the plans we're making, for our businesses, in our personal development, for our finances. And all of that is beneficial. Yet, as Michael Todd of points out, if it does not bring us closer to God it is a fantasy.

I am so grateful for pastors who help us get crystal clear about the difference between what we want for our lives and what God has in his plans for our lives. We can desire abundance, prosperity, and to make an impact. But if God does not will this for us, these are empty dreams.

Pastor Michael encourages us to "See it, before we see it." Allowing God to give us his vision for our lives, so that we can know what we are working towards, and so that we can stay motivated and on track in our lives.

I pray that you take the time this week to get still and quiet and ask God what he plans for your life this year. Let us humble ourselves and give our lives to God so that he may work miracles through us. Bless your beautiful soul, Amen! 🙏

We know all about self care and have been diligently building a life for ourselves that incorporates those things that nourish our bodies into our daily practice. We have been stretching, and eating whole foods, and sleeping deeply, and walking morning and night. We have been keeping up with loved ones and attending sessions with healers and journaling, journaling, journaling.

And there is a piece that sometimes gets forgotten in all of this upkeep of our human body and mind. It is the deeper soul nourishment that I find can get lost along the way. Even as we care for these vessels so faithfully, there is an energy of exhaustion, of losing steam, of feeling uninspired and like every day seems to carry a similar vein of energy.

This is when we must run to the forest. Bathe in the waters, or submerge our feet. Even when our bodies cannot climb and swim like they used to, we can still make our way to the sacred waters. We can lie upon the ground and receive the birdsong into our sweet and tender soul with gratitude. We can shed the tears we forgot were there such that our heart can burst forth once more.

When we leave the forest, we leave behind a strand of hair so that our heart does not forget the forest and the forest does not forget us. We offer thanks for this blessed reunion and we know we shall return when next our spirit craves re-watering.

May we each incorporate soul care amongst our practice of self care. May we remember that our spirit craves the earth and may her thirst be satisfied.

How can you invite gentle loving structure into your days?

Perhaps there are foods that you know feel deeply nourishing to your body and that feed your soul.

Or maybe there are colors that make your heart smile and flatter your complexion, making you shine bright.

Or perhaps there is a place that is calling you home, inviting you to pause your wandering and plant roots for this season of your life.

Follow the threads of your own desire. Don't be afraid to let all else fall away except what is most present in this moment. What is being called forth is a very specific version of you. Allow her to emerge, clear and decisive, knowing that this container can change when it is time.

I was connecting with my dear sister the other day and she spoke this truth which resonated deep in my bones:

Longing is an innate part of the feminine experience.

My body immediately recognized these words as familiar. My heart took a breath, remembering there is nothing to resist or change. It is okay to feel longing. It does not indicate lack or need for change. It is the sign that we are alive and our hearts are filled with love.

We are the dreamers of the dreams not yet manifested. Our hearts sense the possibility of every path. Our spirits feel called to the medicine.

We have a longing for ourselves. For our children who have not yet been born. For the ancestors who came before us. For home. For family.

We long to be deeply loved, to be safely held, to be fully seen.

We may believe that changing this or that will fulfill this deep longing. But what if the longing is simply a part of us? What would you change about your life knowing that the longing will remain?

Our worlds are being completely restructured at this time. Our dreams are taking shape in ways we could have never imagined. In this state of enormous shift, it can be tempting to resist and say "this is not what I thought I wanted." Our inner child may gaze wide-eyed at our transformed self and wonder, who is this I see?

Allow your heart to open to this version of you. She may feel unfamiliar, but she is no stranger. She is an amalgamation of many dreams you have dreamed. Perhaps they were in childhood, long before you came to this point. Trust that the divine is leading you on a beautiful journey. Ask this version of you:

"What is it you are here to teach me?"

She is powerful! Do not be afraid!

Our lives seem to be made up of a series of splintering paths. As we take each step, we believe that we are leaving some choice behind us. If this, then not that. We were taught that there is always sacrifice, compromise, and choosing one thing over another.

Because of this, sometimes we will choose a direction and then, in an effort to justify and reinforce our choice, we will begin to degrade the value of the other way, the other choice we could have made had we not made this one.

"That path could have never brought me what I wanted."

"Those people could not support me the way I needed."

"That home would not have brought fulfillment into my life."

These thoughts are the result of the ego defense. Even as we follow our divine guidance, our ego wishes to take credit. Then, because the ego is always anticipating criticism, it automotally defends what it sees as its decision.

However, ultimately this negative thought pattern is isolating us and causing us to cut off from possible future paths. It may not be the right time in this moment for us to choose option B, but a year from now may the perfect time for it! Don't allow your ego to eliminate possibilities from your future simply because we have made a choice in this present moment.

Remember, nothing is mutually exclusive. Taking path A now does not mean you will not take path B tomorrow. Allow yourself to be fluid, allow for the infinite possibilities to remain POSSIBLE.

I'm gonna be real with you:

Victimhood often got me what I wanted when I was a kid. If I heard a "no," I knew how to manipulate that into a "yes." I was relentless. I've done the inner child healing to cultivate forgiveness for this version of myself, knowing that I was simply trying to get my needs met.

But what I'm realizing now, as I allow the universe to "parent" me, is that s**t don't work now! The tactics I used to change my mama's answer from a "no" to a "yes" aren't going to get me what I want now which is:

+ a divinely curated life of fulfillment and an embodied sense of purpose

+ the confidence that comes when I've pushed past my edges and expanded beyond what I ever thought possible

+ release from any old stories or limiting beliefs around abundance and what it takes to live a magnificent life
