Did anyone find a camera bag with a phone and a lens? One patron lost it at Long Bridge Park.

Friends of Long Bridge Park A broad, half-mile long, raised walkway, known as the Esplanade, connects the park and its recreational facilities.
Views from this area includes Roaches Run Waterfowl Preserve as well as the historic skyline of our Nation’s Capital and Washington Monument. West of the Esplanade, a large rain garden infiltrates runoff from the athletic fields to support a planted garden of native shrubs and perennials. The project team has developed a preliminary concept design for the Long Bridge Drive corridor between Boundary Channel Drive and S. Clark Street / 12th Street S. The concept design was informed by your input, alongside Board-adopted plans and policies, operational and safety data, and staff observations.
The proposed multi-use trail would connect the Crystal City and Pentagon City neighborhoods with the Mount Vernon Trail and the future Long Bridge walking and biking connection to Washington DC. The concept design is below, along with two focus areas where multiple concepts were developed for your input.
Join us at a public project open house on September 26, 2024 from 5:00pm-7:30pm at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center. At this meeting, you can learn more about the project, check out the concept design, and speak with project staff about how we got here.

Repairs at Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center to Begin January 29
Starting January 29, the Long Bridge Aquatics & Fitness Center (LBAFC) will operate on an adjusted schedule to address necessary repairs in the 50-meter and leisure pool areas. All repairs, including replacement of the building’s sprinkler hose, as well as ceiling tiles that have been impacted by a leak in the sprinkler system are estimated to be complete by summer, 2024. The Department of Parks and Recreation has developed a plan to efficiently address these repairs while minimizing impacts to scheduled programming and day-to-day user experiences.

The Virginia Passenger Rail Authority's (VPRA) Engineering Team has heard your feedback and, with our partners, thoroughly investigated how much increasing the width of the bridge could be accommodated given the project’s site constraints and impacts on the project’s schedule, budget, existing design approvals, permitting, and constructability. While widening from 14 feet to 16 feet will have only minor impacts, widening more than this will greatly impact all of these aspects of the project.
As a result, VPRA has agreed to widen the bridge to 16 feet from the 14 feet width that was approved in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS)/Record of Decision (ROD).
There are many factors that make widening the bridge beyond 16 feet problematic. The tightest horizontal clearance constraints occur adjacent to the Mount Vernon Trail ramp near the Virginia shoreline and at the Ohio Drive SW landing in East Potomac Park, as these ramps down take up essentially as much space as the bike-ped bridge itself. Widening to 16 feet brings the bike-ped bridge ramps on either side of the bridge within 6 feet of the WMATA Yellow Line Bridge Air Rights. We are not allowed to work within this Air Rights space without special accommodations, and the future contractor will need that space between the Air Rights space and the bike-ped bridge ramps to build the Long Bridge Project.
We greatly appreciate your feedback and your continued interest and engagement. We look forward to hearing from you as the Long Bridge Project progresses. Our next public meetings are scheduled for Spring 2023.
