2025 NOVA Award Winners:
Women’s MVP: Charlotte Kowalk
Charlotte had a great year in 2025, including running 17:15 for 5k on the roads. Charlotte has raised the bar for what is possible for a NOVA woman at 5k and down.
Men’s MVP: Chris Bourke
Chris ran an outstanding 2:24:00 at the London Marathon, which was unquestionably the best performance by a man in NOVA history. Chris is a major talent, and it all came together for him on the big day.
Rookie of the Year: Zack Mitarontonda
Zack is a talented youngster who has range from the mile to marathon. Zack is in the process of finding his sweet spot, which is somewhere in between. Zack is just skimming the surface of his ability, and we’ll see some big results from him in the future.
Coach’s Award: Kunrui Peng
Kunrui has worked extremely hard the last several years, and as a result of that hard work he has improved dramatically. In 2025 Kunrui ran 3:44 in the marathon, which was a 26 minute PR, and 1:17 for 10 miles, which was a 7 minute PR. Kunrui is just getting started, and the PRs will continue in 2026.

Happy Holidays from NOVA Running Club🎄||
As we wrap up 2025, consider giving back to the club that gives us all so much.
From now through December 31, 2025, we will be holding our annual donation drive to raise funds for the club. Our club is an affiliate member of the RRCA. Through the RRCA, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Additionally, NOVA is run by an all-volunteer Board of Directors. 100% of your donation goes toward keeping the club running. Our fees include RRCA club insurance, website/newsletter hosting fees, club events, and Coach Jerry’s salary. Funds will also help cover expenses for hosting the NOVA 5k, including a timing system, sound system, and pop-up tent. This means that all donations raised go directly back to our club members and support the long term future of the club. Since we are a 501(c)(3) we can also accept company matches. Please consider donating this year.

NOVA Holiday Lights Run! 🎄
Join us for the 9th annual NOVA Running Club Holiday Lights Run, Wednesday December 10th, 2025 starting at 6:30pm at CityCenterDC! This is not a tempo or workout, but simply a fun run with your NOVA pals through the city checking out all the holiday lights and trees! We’ll meet in front of the big tree at CityCenterDC and run a few miles around DC, checking out the other big Christmas trees at the Canadian Embassy, the Capitol, U.S. Botanic Gardens, and the White House. We will finish our run at Shake Shack for a post-run treat. Please dress warmly as we are making frequent stops to take photos and it will be chilly.
