A stacked field is set for Saturday nights G1 Downs at Albuquerque Fall Championship. All but two horses entered are already graded stakes winners with a handful of multiple graded stakes winners as well.
Stephen Harris’ Paradise Pete headlines the field as the morning line favorite. The four year old gelding is fresh off a victory in the G1 All American Gold Cup and has also won three in a row at Albuquerque. The son of Flying Cowboy 123 also captured the G2 Mr Jet Moore Stakes this summer. The David Gomez Barraza trainee also finished second on the G3 John Andreini Memorial and third in the G3 West Texas Maturity earlier this year. Christian Cardenas will be in the irons on Saturday.
The lone 3 year old in the field is fan favorite Gf Shes Sinful comes in as the early second choice. The filly is already a Grade 1 winner this year as she crushed the field in the Ruidoso Derby. The Wes Giles trainee was also runner up in the G1 Rainbow Oaks and third in the G1 All American Derby. The daughter of Dulce Sin Tacha is also the current 440 yard track record holder at Albuquerque. Noe Garcia Jr. will be aboard for owners All In Partners.
Quarter horse racings All Time leading money earner Kj Desparado comes in as the third choice. While winless so far in 2026, the seven year old geldings resume is too great to ignore. A win on Saturday would be his eighth Grade 1 victory. Of course his most prestigious win came in the 2021 G1 All American Futurity. Kj Desparado will get another shot at Paradise Pete and Toastin Heros who he finished behind in the G1 All American Gold Cup last time out. Gabriel Medrano will have the mount for trainer Wes Giles and owners John Lee, Kathy Lee, & Ruben Mares.
Good luck everyone.
