Look at the stern. That's the Extreme Navigation Light: composite shaft, clear LED housing, USCG 2NM certified.

Most stern lights snap. This one folds.

Your ride home is about to go dark.

St. Louis sunset on Oct 1: 6:43 PM.
Oct 31: 6:01 PM.
Nov 1, clocks fall back: 5:00 PM.
Dec 1: 4:39 PM.

That's two hours earlier by the clock, and the run back to the ramp happens in the dark now. Lights go on at sunset, and on boats under 39 ft your white light has to be visible from 2 nautical miles.
