It's race day baby!!! 4am start, now on the road down to the Monterey Super Spartan Race with my coach and biggest supporter Greg. Been training hard, putting in the work, let's see if it pays off! Last week's efforts, recorded on my Polar A360 HR monitor. Thought it would be the best since records began last August but it comes a close second. 3 trail runs, 2 LES MILLS BODYCOMBAT classes, 2 CXWORX classes, 1 GRIT class, 4 BODYPUMP classes and 2 strength training workouts. The word of the day is... re-hydration. How do you do it? I was browsing in Whole Foods today and came across Fit Aid. They give this out after the Spartan Races and I just love it! Cool to see it in a store so I bought one. Yum! Dana I'd love your take on this product! I also purchased a couple of single serve Electrolyte powders (365 Everyday Value Electrolyte Plus+ and Ultima Replenisher) to try them out for taste. Between my normal Les Mills teaching schedule and my Spartan Race training I'm sometimes doing two hours of cardio/cardio and strength training a day and the one thing I know I'm lacking in my regime is adequate re-hydration. You can tell you're in trouble when sweat runs in your eye and doesn't sting or doesn't taste salty. Will keep you posted on how the two products I plan to try taste and perform. Watch this space! Last Tuesday night working out at American Barbell Clubs in Santa Clara with my client. His previous Bench Press record was 175lbs and here he is pushing 185lbs! After this we went on to 195lbs and then hit 1RM at 200 even! This is what hard work, dedication to your workouts and a seriously positive mental attitude can get you! Way to go Lakshman!! [11/24/16]   This week I ran a type of unintentional experiment using my polar HR monitor during my LES MILLS BODYCOMBAT classes. I wore it for class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday where i taught the exact same class each time. The calorie count went as follows; 603, 589 and 579 showing that you can't do the same workout time and time again and expect to get the same results. This is why as Instructors we must keeping switching up our releases and as a trainer we provide variety and challenge for our clients so their bodies continue to adapt.
