This years swim season is under way!
I am always so impressed by my swim parents who go out of their way to come to the pool day after day to keep their littles safe. 👏🏼 it’s inspiring!

How do we keep our kids safe near water? 💦As boaters and avid travelers, water safety was always a priority for our family. The numbers don’t lie, and water safety should be on every parents radar. Drowning is the leading cause of death in children under 4. It’s a tragic statistic. ISR is the only water safety program (that I know of) that teaches children how to save their own lives should they encounter the water unattended. Always keep an eye on your kids when they are near water! And avoid flotation if possible. Kids don’t know when they are or are not in flotation. If you give them swim wings, then guess what: they will think they can float in the water. They won’t know they don’t have flotation on when they see an enticing body of water. Be water aware! What is the leading cause of death in children? 🌊Drowning 💧 After we got our kids got on the boat with us, we realized how important their aquatic self rescue skills were. After watching my first daughter go through the program, I decided to become an instructor. It’s the most amazing program, teaching our children the most important skill of their lives: how to self rescue in the water. Now before you all get excited; no, there was not a literal knock down of our boat. Just a metaphorical shattering of any presupposed confidence we thought we may have rightfully earned and owned. I will start in the middle of my story before going backwards to relay our goings ons since the last post. We started our journey from Oriental, the four of us, one happy medium sized family (and one very nervous dog)....
