We lost a true legend.

I had the honor of meeting and spending time with Mr. John Penton through my years in GNCC racing, a moment I’ll always carry with pride. He wasn’t just a pioneer of off-road motorcycling, he was the foundation for so much of what this sport has become.

His vision, grit, and passion built more than bikes, he built a legacy that shaped generations of racers, including myself. Being from Ohio myself, his legacy always meant something personal, but meeting him made it real. John didn’t just talk about pushing boundaries — he lived it.

This photo means a lot to me. It’s a reminder of the roots of off-road racing and the people who built it from the ground up.

Rest easy, Mr. Penton. Thank you for paving the way for all of us.
