Though we had a ride scheduled for Hocking Hills this weekend, you may have noticed that we’ve had a torrential amount of rain and flooding in our area the last few days. Pine Creek Campground was flooded and several of the roads around Hocking Hills State Park are still impassable. We will discuss rescheduling this ride at our next meeting. Meanwhile- use this post if you’d like to find a buddy to ride with this weekend! Several of us have a few dry areas on our property or perhaps a rail-trail trip is more up your alley. Either way, comment here if you are open to finding a riding buddy for the weekend so that plans can be made. Stay dry out there folks!

Moonville Rail Trail Association needs our help! Please see the info below about volunteer opportunities!

One pressing maintenance issue is that shrubs and trees have grown up considerably along the trail, and the plan for this fall is to see what kind of a dent we can put in the problem with a group of hard-working volunteers (with power tools!!).

We have set aside two Saturdays, one in September and one in October, to meet on the trail and cut things back. If it rains on Saturday, work will move to Sunday. Bring along power tools and hand tools for brush cutting/clearing, gloves, safety glasses, and bug repellent. (Bring a friend or family member to lighten the load!). Snacks, water, and other drinks will be provided.

Saturday, September 12, 10am - 1 pm. Meet at the Zaleski parking lot/trailhead. (Rain moves event to Sunday, Sept. 13)
Saturday, October 3, 10am - 1 pm. Meeting spot TBD. (Rain moves event to Sunday, Oct. 4)

The Moonville Rail Trail Association depends on volunteers to maintain the trail. We appreciate your service to this great community asset!

September State Rides
September is State Ride Month. Details for the three planned rides are available on the calendar under "Events" at ohconline.com
- September 4-7: Fairfield County Chapter hosting a state ride at Scioto Trails State Forest.
- September 18-20: Ashland County Chapter hosting a state ride at Mohican Memorial State Forest.
- September 25-27: Northwest Region hosting a state ride at Van Buren State Park (the Jr. Ambassadors are also holding an event).
State rides are a great way to ride with others or to commit to ride a location you've never gone to like Scioto, Mohican and Van Buren. All have unique experiences at the ride.
