At the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series #3 (Female/Male Doubles) we will be using the 2022 PWBA Luci Bonneau Mixed Doubles pattern.

Tournament is May 31 at Cherokee Lanes in Canton, GA.

Critical Roll Bowling Supply / Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series

Yesterday at the Georgia Scratch Bowlers Series held at Southern Lanes we had a unique first for us. Unfortunately, we did not have the number of teams needed to host the originally planned format (it was an incredibly busy weekend of bowling throughout the state).

Instead, the teams that came agreed to bowl a unique round robin + bonus pins format tournament. An incredibly entertaining, but long format. Each match was bowled using a baker format and 2 game total pinfall to decide who received the bonus pins.

Ultimately, it was the duo of Michael James Patterson and Brian Weeks that waltzed away with the win. The 2nd and 3rd place teams were only separated by 32 pins total, both scratch and with bonus pins. Ultimately, Samuel Richard Benifield and Jeff Morrison held on to stay in front of Cameron Emerson and Dusty N Randy Hicks.

As mentioned, this was a first for us. But I really believe the format made it even more fun by bringing more pressure packed shots, getting to bowl heads up against the entire field, and never having to make the big move from lane 28 to lane 2.

To the bowlers that came out, THANK YOU! I know it wasn't what we woke expecting, but it worked out.

Next up, we are back at Cherokee Lanes in Canton, GA for the Male/Female Doubles stop. This one has already garnered plenty of interest. 😁

We have our Over/Under 50 doubles tournament next weekend. Our Male/Female doubles tournament will be in May.

Note: We have moved away from the first weekends of the month to the last weekends of the month to avoid our overlap with UBA events. We understand that there is always going to be a conflict with another great tournament but we felt this provied bowlers that are committed to teams the opportunity to attend our tournaments when they choose. We hope to see many of you along the way.

I often get asked at tournaments if I know of any other scratch tournaments on sport patterns in the Atlanta area. The first one that always comes to mind are the Top Dog tournaments that are put on by Levis Nelson. If you have not yet bowled one of his tournaments, I highly encourage you to find one of the dates that work for you (can be found in his profile picture) and get out there. He and his team will give you one of the smoothest tournament experiences in the state!
