I have been involved in travel baseball as a coach, parent, or tournament director for 7 years and have a few observations…

1. Most coaches/players aren’t worried about their pool draw and just want to compete.

2. Most coaches feel a sense of accomplishment from developing their own players.

3. Teams should quit trying to make “Super Teams”. Seriously your “Super Teams” aren’t as good as you think and usually fall apart by the following year.

4. Coaches/Parents quit complaining and whining about things out of your control…It’s not a good example for the kids.

5. If you sign up for a tournament and have adversity, don’t withdraw, try whatever you can to make it work. This also sets an example for your kids.

6. We all have egos. Parents, Players, and Coaches all have Egos, some bigger than others. Don’t kid yourself it’s all about “I” or “me” for most people. This is just human nature. Try to suppress those egos and your travel baseball experience will be much more enjoyable.

7. Finally, let’s not forget the most important part of this game is having fun…Seriously ask your kid from time to time if they are having fun.
