Common things I hear from folks:

1. “I can’t meal prep, it’s too much work.”
2. “Eating healthy is too expensive.”
3. “I just CANNOT eat the same things every day.”
4. “Meal prepping is too time consuming.”
5. “I’m not dedicated enough to stick with it.”

1. Putting in work is part of the journey to bettering yourself and getting healthy.

2. Eating healthy is NOT more expensive. If you compare what you spend in a week with meal prepping versus whatever you usually do (eating out, grabbing snacks from the store, etc) I assure you what you spend will be comparable, if not less.

3. Nobody said you had to eat the same thing every day. You can have some variety; however, research does show that more dietary variety contributes to increased weight and body fat. Repeating ingredients and meals throughout the week WILL help you stick to the plan. Retrain your mind and body how to eat, THEN you can add more variety.

4. My husband and I easily meal prep in a few short hours on Sunday. It’s not an all day event, and you do have the majority of your day to do whatever you want.

5. If you’re not quite dedicated enough to stick to it yet, prepare yourself mentally before diving in. It’s a commitment to a lifestyle change, but only works if you put in the effort. Results come from commitments. It is not only habit, but also science.

Bonus: Last but not least, include your kids/family in your journey. Good health is a habit that all can benefit from. Let your kids see the positive changes you make and include them in cooking, prepping and tasting.

There will always be those who try to enable you or distract you. You may even do that to yourself sometimes. My best advice: get rid of those people AND get rid of your own sh*tty mindset that tries to get you off track.
