In December 1989, during Operation Just Cause, Bob “Ninja” Porras said these words to his soldiers to calm his soldier down and relieve them of anxious questions before one of our first raids:

“IF YOU SEE ME SHOOTING, FIND SOMETHING TO SHOOT AT.”

Decades later, Bob shared the story publicly during his appearance on The Shawn Ryan Show, Episode #45 Part 1 (1:38:27 – 1:38:35 on the video timeline)

What started as a lesson between soldiers became one of the first official NINJA-ISMS.

Behind the humor was a serious message: pay attention, follow me, understand what's happening, and don't hesitate when it's time to act.
