Ahhhh, New York! You do not disappoint! So proud of these two amazing men and their Marathon accomplishments today. And to our little merry band of three who made our way through the Burroughs to make sure we supported their every step. The Marathon brings out the best in everyone. Over 40 nations represented + 1 million spectators + 1 amazing city = perfection.

That’s my boy! His first 1 Mile race at the Peachtree Junior! I could not be prouder. He ran like the wind and gave it 100%. Here’s to many, many more miles in his future.

My favorite 5K in the books! Another PR for my sweet husband, and our boy’s last Dash. Next year, it’s the 5K for him. A family that runs together stays young together!

Today is International Women's Day. Did you know that the first Women's Olympic Marathon was held in 1984 while the first men's Olympic marathon was held in 1904? Women had been previously considered "physiology incapable". Read more about the history of women's running and the women who paved the way in Amby Burfoot's First Ladies of Running.

One of my favorite things to tell my son is, "you'll never feel worse after a run". Getting out into nature, clearing my head, and allowing my body feel the freedom of running is a sure fire way to lift my spirits. It makes me physically, mentally, and emotionally bloom. What makes you bloom?

Raise your hand if you have a mantra! is there a special word, or words, that helps you push through the uncomfortable moments that can often come with a long run or tough workout?
When I'm talking myself through a rough patch I'm all about DIG DIG DIG! And at the end of a run, it's KICK KICK KICK! Be your own best cheerleader. Pick a mantra - or two- to keep you motivated and engaged. And get out there and do it - For the Run of It!

It's National Random Acts of Kindness today. There are so many opportunities to make someone smile in any given day. Have you ever asked the cashier at your grocery store how their day was? As in, "Hi! How is your day going today?". Those simple words almost always elicit a smile and a noticeable dropping of the "guard" we tend to carry around with us.
So, why not practice some random acts of kindness today and everyday. Start with yourself and get out there and get your body moving. Sometimes the simplest things are the best.

What brings you strength and courage?
Running brings me both. Pushing myself physically and mentally makes me realize the infinite wells of determination we have inside of all of us. So tell someone you love them today. Most importantly, tell yourself.
