It was on this date June 9, 1990 that Georgia Baseball won it's first national championship and the first-ever for any
program.
Now the Dawgs are headed back to Omaha for the first time since 2008 (when they came within one win of doing it again) to try and get that second national championship.
Scott Howard and I called the for the Radio Network that season and for several years together.
To this date it remains one of the top highlight moments of my career. Good memories. Hopefully the 2026 Dawgs can make some new ones!

Terribly sad to see a third former GHSA football player has passed away in the last couple of weeks. Walnut Grove Warrior Football DL Nic "Big Happy" Smith now at Kentucky is sadly the latest (story below from ESPN).
Former Lowndes Vikings Football safety Gavin Yates-Lyons (Ball State) and TCCHS Football OL Deontavis Cooper (Tulane) passed away right after their graduations.
We just saw Gavin and Deontavis during GPB Sports State Playoffs and Finals coverage a few months ago. It was the last games in which they played. Life is precious. Life is a gift from God. Take nothing for granted.

Former Newton High School Rams star Stephon Castle 23 points on 8-14 FG (2-5 3FG), 5 rebounds, 5 assists. He was playing GHSA Hoops just 3 years ago. Amazing!
If Spurs can do it again Wednesday maybe they'll shut up SAS & Spiked Lee but I doubt it

Last piece to CWS puzzle in place as Oklahoma joins Georgia. Texas and Alabama in the “SEC Bracket of Doom” in Omaha. Sooners play Bama Saturday3pET. Dawgs play Horns Sat 8p. Winners vs Winners, Losers vs losers Monday. Bulldawgs didn’t play any of these 3 teams this season. Records last year
0-3 at Texas aggregate score 16-8
2-2 vs OK agg. 24-23 (home and SECT)
1-2 at Bama agg. Score UGA 26-17 (included 19-3 win)
All Totaled 5 SEC teams going to Omaha. Ole Miss on other side of bracket and won’t meet any of the other 4 unless advance to championship finals series
