Who is getting unsolicited txt messages from Northside Hospital telling you to view a link for a bill? I did not trust this method and called Northside Customer Support and YES, they do have that service but you have to opt in with an account number. Turns out I do NOT have any outstanding bills, but they did have me as having opted in. SCARY.
Who knows where that link would have taken me and what it could have done to my phone - perhaps allowing access to all of the content there.
Advise - be very wary today with all this technology. We of the older generation can be very vulnerable as we grew up trusting that the world was not out to get us, but scams are all over the place today.
OH and emails from E-Bay stating I purchased a gun and owe them $900. There is an attachment with the "bill". Total SCAM.

For those of my generation (Baby Boomer's), I sometimes wonder if we were more secure when we lived with this image always in the background and the Cold War was so much simpler to understand and to deal with as opposed to all the hidden threats we face today.

If you're looking for the homemade equivalent of Wonder Bread, you'll definitely want to try this classic Amish white bread! 🍞 It is somewhat sweet - and when I say somewhat, I mean like those fabulous, hot dinner rolls they have at Logan’s Roadhouse or Hawaiian rolls.
Ingredients:
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
â…” cup white sugar
1 ½ tablespoons active dry yeast
ÂĽ cup vegetable oil
1 ½ teaspoons salt
6 cups bread flour
How To Make Amish White Bread:
Dissolve sugar in warm water in a large bowl, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam, 5 to 10 minutes.
Mix oil and salt into the yeast. Mix in flour one cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well-oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes, and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place into two well-oiled 9Ă—5-inch loaf pans. Allow to rise until dough has topped the pans by one inch, about 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Bake the risen loaves in the preheated oven until golden brown for 30 minutes.

Well, it is getting that time of year again when the National Day of Celebration is here and we take time to celebrate as a Nation, all together and undivided. It is a holiday that most of us grew up with and now we get to add all those who have joined our country via immigration.
If you have a neighbor who is not from this country originally, take the time to give them a short history lesson on why we celebrate the 4th of July. Extend a welcoming hand to them and invite them to be a part of YOUR family's celebration.
IF you know your neighbor is an immigrant and have not met them yet, drop them a note or knock on their door and invite them over.
That said, Polo has a great FIREWORKS DISPLAY. Everyone is invited to come over the golf course, set up a chair and/or a blanket and watch this display. BUT PLEASE, PLEASE do not discard all those SPARKLER metal wires on the grass - they really do a number on the lawn mowers used to groom the fairways. PLEASE dispose of them property along with any trash you may generate as well. Leave your spot and surrounding area CLEAN.
Oh, and please have patience when driving down and parking - that will be a real challenge. It may involve a bit of a hike, but walking is good for us all.
Happy 4th of July all and thank you for the hospitality you may extend to others and give a moment of thanks for the sacrifices made by so many in the fight for our Independence day. We are living their dream of a free and independent nation.
Annual Community Garage Sale:

Got a question from a new resident here in Polo - Is there an active Bible Study Group here? If so, please post something about it - when it meets and maybe what the group is studying right now. Contact information and such would be very helpful.
There are numerous Bible Study groups in our county - many of which are held in the various places of worship. I know that the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit (ECOHS.net) holds a weekly study on Thursdays.
We look forward to hearing from other groups as well.
THE 4th OF JULY - Fireworks at the Club. This annual display of some fantastic fireworks sponsored by the Polo Golf and Country Club is something almost all of the residents here love - That said, remember, we are all guests and are expected to be respectful towards each other and to do the right thing:
1) DO NOT set up in the "Bunkers" - the sand traps. These are not a substitute for the beach and are not to be used as such.
2) Set up your lawn chairs on the fairways.
3) IF you bring "sparklers" make sure to police up the metal sticks - those metal wires wreak havoc on the mowing equipment, so make sure you and your guests (kids especially) put them in a trash bag that you bring with you.
4) Speaking of trash - PLEASE pick up after yourselves - leave the grounds as clean as you found it when you arrived and if your neighbor fails to pick up their trash, spend a moment and pick it up - the Polo Club will appreciate it and will keep allowing us to use the fairways for this annual tradition.
Thank you for being the greatest neighbors ever. We have a very special community and you all make it that way.

Missing Dog in Polo: Please if anyone has seen this dog, call the number listed - and be kind. Those of us who have one of these furry family members know that when one goes missing it is no less traumatic than if one of our children went missing. Thank you all for your care in advance.
