Since 2019 SOPO has had a lack of consistent volunteers to open our shop. As a result of this, if maintaining its current status, it will go out of business in about 6 months. There's a few ways this can be avoided:
4-6 volunteers putting in 4-6h/week to organize volunteering nights (and new volunteer onboarding), open shop nights, and online sales of our inventory (which works extremely well for bringing in income). These volunteers need to be reliable, available to be at the shop on a consistent basis, be dependable, and good communicators. We also need a few people to organize the community aspect of it - organizing community meetings, joining the BOD, and doing strategic leadership.

More realistically, lacking that volunteer power, we need to put the shop on hold and reimagine a future. This needs somebody to organize how that could be (organizing selling off most of our physical assets, figuring out somewhere we could move our (8x20) shipping container and operate out of that), and organize work days to do that.

In my experience - at organized work days, and at consistent shop hours there is good attendance from volunteers who want to help. But there isn't currently the people interested in organizing those.
If nobody steps up for either of those, the shop will close in the next 6 months as we run out of cash.

If you're interested in helping out - reach out to me. But I'll specify - our need is help on the committed, consistent, organizational level.

- Benjamin
