Obituary for Brian Emmett Delaney
Brian Emmett Delaney, 66, of Acworth passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 in the loving arms of his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born January 9, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to parents Emmett and Patricia Delaney. Brian attended St. Mary’s of Redford Catholic High School where he was the star football quarterback and baseball catcher. Brian enlisted in the Army, and after being honorably discharged, went on to attend Central Michigan University where he met his wife, Mary Jo. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. After relocating to Georgia in 1985, Brian made it a point to be an active member of his neighborhood communities and taught his children the value of always doing the right thing. Brian had an incredible work ethic, a true passion for sports, a love for the beach and warm weather, a strong devotion to Jesus Christ, and a big sweet tooth. An avid tennis player, Brian was most comfortable on the courts. His no-nonsense, non-materialistic approach to life will be missed. He is survived by his son, Matthew Delaney and wife Evonne; daughter, Mary King and husband Ryan; son, Kevin Delaney; granddaughter, Emmie King; grandson, Luke Delaney; brothers, Sean and Tim Delaney. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Jo Delaney; father, Emmett Delaney; mother, Patricia Delaney; sister, Kathy Delaney; brother Dennis Delaney; sister, Sheila Delaney; brother Kevin Delaney; and sister Brigid McGrath (née Delaney).
