Marietta Air Force Officer Promoted in Patriotic, Family-Filled Ceremony MARIETTA — A Marietta Air Force major was promoted to lieutenant colonel Wednesday morning during a family filled patriotic ceremony in Glover Park.

Media Advisory: Georgia Legislation Imposes $1,000 Fine for Illegally Passing Stopped School Buses Beginning July 1, 2024

The City of Marietta would like to inform its citizens of recent changes in Georgia legislation to impose higher fines for illegally passing a stopped school bus. Under the new law, violations captured through photo-enforcement programs will result in fines of up to $1,000. Additionally, violations issued directly by law enforcement officers will result in a minimum fine of $1,000. Please be aware that these changes will take effect on July 1, 2024.

“Volunteers Needed to Plant Trees around Marietta”
Marietta Tree Keepers invites volunteers of all ages to help plant trees in Marietta meeting at the City of Marietta Maintenance Building, 434 Sessions Street,(near Lewis Park) on Saturday, March 11 at 8:30am. This planting will be a scavenger hunt where the volunteers will be given clues to find the trees that they will plant. Tools and refreshments provided.
Dress for outdoor weather.

We will be planting trees around Marietta and will meet at City of Marietta Maintenance Building (near Lewis Park) in Marietta. The address is: 434 Sessions Street, Marietta, Georgia 30060. Large groups please contact us with your number of volunteers that will be in attendance.

Members of the Marietta Tree Keepers have been promoting the value of trees to the community since it was founded in 2002. MTK has over 100 members and has planted over 5,500 trees around the city. The 501(C)3 non-profit organization works closely with the City of Marietta to plant trees along public right-of-ways, parks and schools.
