The most successful events on Eventeny all avoid this one very common mistake: clustering.

Three candle vendors in a row. A full section of jewelry booths. It happens because applications get approved in batches and get dropped into whatever space is available.

While this makes sense logistically, from an attendee’s perspective the merchandise gets repetitive and they stop engaging. The sense of discovery, which is what keeps people walking and spending, disappears.

The fix is intentional variety as you plan the layout. Different categories next to each other. Food near retail. Art near accessories. The goal is that every twenty steps feels like something new.

The other two things that matter most: flow and density. Attendees shouldn’t have to figure out how to navigate your event, the layout should make it obvious. And no matter how tempting it is to maximize booth count, a crowded space isn’t a profitable one.

People who feel overwhelmed leave. People who feel comfortable browse longer and buy more. The math on giving vendors a little breathing room usually works out.

The most common mistake vendors make at in-person events isn’t bad products. It’s underpricing them.

There’s a real psychological pull toward pricing low. Fear that customers won’t pay more, wanting to move product quickly, not wanting to seem expensive. But underpricing creates its own problems: it attracts the wrong buyers, it signals lower quality before someone’s even touched your work, and it makes it nearly impossible to build a sustainable margin.

A simple starting point: add up your materials, your time at an actual hourly rate, and your share of overhead costs like the booth fee and supplies. That total, multiplied by two, is your floor (not your price). Build up from there.

One more thing worth saying: at craft fairs and conventions, customers expect to pay more for handmade, original, one-of-a-kind work. Pricing accordingly isn’t greed. It’s honesty about the value of what you made.

Don’t let simple errors hold you back! Here’s our advice:

Organizers want to see your booth setup! They need to know that you’re going to represent their event well, and seeing your booth helps paint that picture. If you’ve never done an event before, set up the booth in your yard or driveway to get pictures.

Application questions are there because event producers want to know your background. Whether you’re a first-time jewelry maker or part of a family of food vendors, share your story and connect it to your value proposition. This personalizes you to the people reviewing your application.

Apply early (we cannot stress this enough). Vendor slots often fill on a rolling basis, especially for food vendors or crowded categories like jewelry. Early applications reduce the likelihood of getting rejected because of category over saturation. It also shows reliability, a trait organizers value.

Good communication makes you a low-maintenance & reliable partner, which is valuable for organizers managing an insane workload. Be polite, reply promptly, and confirm logistics; every positive interaction increases your chances of being invited back.

If you’re thinking about becoming an event vendor in 2026, the landscape is shifting.

We analyzed thousands of events to uncover the trends that will define your sales strategy this year.

Here is what the numbers say about your opportunity:

Getting Approved: The average vendor approval rate is holding steady at 62.7%. However, smaller markets (like art fairs) are more accessible, approving up to 70% of applicants, while larger events are tighter at around 50%.

Rising Demand: Competition is heating up. Vendor submissions for exhibitions rose by 196% in some genres last year alone. If you want a spot, applying early is essential.

Booth Economics: The average booth price sits at $87.03, but seasonality matters. Summer events peak at nearly $100 on average, while winter offers a more budget-friendly entry point at roughly $64.

High demand events are getting more expensive and competitive, but the opportunity for revenue is growing right alongside them.

No need to feel overwhelmed! Knowing the numbers is the first step, but turning that knowledge into action is what leads to success.
Here are your first three steps to building a profitable and sustainable event:
Budget First: Start by outlining your key costs. What will you spend on the venue, marketing, and operations? A clear budget prevents surprises.
Diversify Revenue: Don’t rely solely on ticket sales. Explore sponsorships, vendor fees, or premium experiences to build a stronger financial foundation.
Use Smart Tools: Save time and reduce manual effort by using an integrated platform to streamline your work from day one.
Planning a successful event doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With a clear strategy, you can bring your community together and achieve your goals.
