I did the work. The real work. And when I finally came up for air and didn't feel so sad and depleted anymore, I took that as my green light.
I started going out, meeting people, finding love, landing a new job. Life was moving again and honestly? That felt like everything after being down for the count for so long.
What I didn't do was stop and check in with myself.
No real inventory. No pause to ask who I actually was now. I just... moved forward. The way I always had.
And here's what I've come to understand — significant loss changes you. Of course it does. I had been through something that shook me to my core, and I was not the same woman on the other side of it. But I skipped right past that truth and started building anyway.
The result was a heart that got hurt, business choices that felt off almost from the start, and a people-pleasing version of me that I barely recognized.
I could have avoided so much of that. Not all of it — life is life. But so much of it.
All it would have taken was a honest look at who I was in that new season, and letting my values be the compass instead of my relief.
⏰ SPOILER ALERT: Next week I'm sharing a simple exercise I call The Values Compass — and it's the thing I genuinely wish someone had handed me before I started running.
Stay tuned.

Hi, I’m Monet Farr Cole a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, Transformative Life Coach and Image Consultant. Have you ever been told you were “overreacting”—and suddenly started questioning your own feelings?
That word can feel less like feedback and more like judgment… like your emotional response is being dismissed instead of understood.
I shared a moment where being accused of “overreacting” left me feeling discounted and second-guessing myself.
So now I’m curious—and yes, definitely smiling a little as I ask this:
Was I overreacting… about being told I was overreacting? 😅
Tell me what you think. Where do you land on this?

One of the hardest parts of grief after 40 is realizing the life you knew no longer fits—but the new one hasn’t revealed itself yet.
If that’s where you are, please know that you're not lost (or alone); you’re in between.
Navigating the In-Between Time There’s a season we don’t talk about enough—the in-between. When what was has ended. When what’s next isn’t clear yet. When you don’t quite feel like yourself...

In 2025, nearly 40% of employees report crying at work in the past month—not because they’re weak, but because they’re carrying loss, burnout, and unacknowledged grief into systems that expect business as usual.
Most workplaces still offer 3–5 days of bereavement leave and little support beyond that. Yet grief costs organizations $75 billion annually, fuels disengagement, and quietly drives talented people out the door.
I wrote this article for leaders who care about performance and people—and for employees who need to know their grief makes sense.
Compassion isn’t a weakness in leadership—it’s one of the strongest reasons people stay, re-engage and commit.

I’d love to hear from leaders and HR partners—how is your organization evolving its approach to grief and loss?
The Grief We Don’t Make Space for Is Costing Us All — New Paradigms Grief Recovery & Life Coaching Last year, I wrote about grief in the workplace—and since then, the numbers have only grown more sobering. In 2025, nearly 40% of employees report crying at work in the past month. Not because they’re unprofessional. But because they’re human—carrying burnout, personal loss, and unproce...
Happy 1st Day of 2026!!!
Looking forward to a year of great intentionality!
I do not rush my healing to make others comfortable.
I do not shrink my truth to preserve fragile peace.
I move with intention—listening not just to what feels familiar,
but to what feels safe, steady, and self-honoring.
Being heart-centered does not mean being unguarded.
Love guided by wisdom is not cold—it is clear.
And clarity is one of the highest forms of self-respect.
Today, I choose alignment over attachment.
I choose discernment over longing.
I choose the kind of courage that protects my nervous system,
my future self, and the life I am building—slowly, consciously, on purpose.
What I allow today shapes who I become tomorrow.
So I allow only what meets me with honesty, reciprocity, and care.
I am not hard.
I am whole.
And I move from that wholeness with grace and power.
Namaste,
Monet 💕

Sometimes what keeps us from healing isn’t the pain itself — it’s the shame wrapped around it.
The silent belief that what happened says something about us.
That if we were wiser, stronger, or more aware, it wouldn’t have gone that way.
But let’s be reminded that shame is a liar.
…It convinces you that your mistakes define you, when in truth, they refined you.
…It keeps you reliving old chapters instead of writing new ones.
Making peace with your story doesn’t mean you approve of what happened.
It means you refuse to let it have the final word.
“Yes, that happened. I wish it hadn’t. But I’m choosing to see the woman I became through it — not the one I was because of it.”
Every time you release shame, you reclaim power.
Every time you meet your past with compassion instead of condemnation, you step closer to freedom.
So, I’ll ask again — what would it look like to make peace with the parts of your story you wish never happened?
Because that peace… is the doorway to your healing.

Smallness is the cage we build when we believe the lies of our doubts.
The most powerful limits in our lives aren’t the ones placed on us from the outside.
They’re the quiet ones we accept in our minds, the ones that slowly cage our voices, our dreams, and our confidence.
Limiting beliefs don’t just hold us back…
· they silence our voices,
· dim our dreams,
· and chip away at our confidence.
They convince us to play small when we were created to live BIG.
And when we let those thoughts take control, we begin to build cages for ourselves.
Cages that shrink us.
Cages that make us question our worth.
Cages that keep us from speaking our truth and living the fullness of our dreams.
But you were never meant to live behind bars of self-doubt.
The world needs your full presence, your bold voice, and your unshakable confidence.
If this speaks to your heart, then my 5-Day 1:1 Micro Challenge is for you—a powerful journey to help you spot those sneaky beliefs, dismantle the cages they’ve built, and rise with renewed clarity and courage.
Break free from smallness and step fully into your power. Join me here: [https://lnkd.in/eSi5rwwS]

Did you know your brain can help heal your heart? Neuroplasticity is the science of how your brain creates new pathways—and it’s the reason healing after grief, loss, or trauma is truly possible.
In this episode of Monday Mindset with Monet, I share how the same brain that was impacted by grief can be reshaped through intentional practices like journaling, mindfulness, movement, and coaching. You’ll learn:
• What neuroplasticity is and why it gives us hope
• How grief reshapes the brain—and how healing can rewire it
• Simple daily practices that support your brain’s ability to heal
• Why you are never “stuck” in old patterns
Whether you’re navigating grief, rebuilding after loss, or seeking a fresh start, this message will inspire you to see your brain as your ally in creating new beginnings.

In my own journey, and as I work with other women navigating life’s toughest transitions—loss, divorce, burnout—I’ve learned powerful lessons in both Acceptance and Willingness.
I’ve learned that we cannot heal what we will not accept. And we cannot move forward without willingness.
Acceptance isn’t about saying “I’m okay with what happened.” It’s about saying, “I will stop fighting against what is, so I can create space for what can be.”
Willingness is the quiet courage to take that next step, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.
When these two work together, they become the keys to peace, clarity, and a future that feels lighter and more aligned.
Today, I want to share with you a deeper reflection on acceptance and willingness, and why they are essential partners in our healing journey.
