ooting Starz Basketball Academy is to produce and develop outstanding athletes who demonstrate our core values of hard work and intelligence both individually and in a team environment. Our purpose is to develop the athletic, intellectual and spiritual dimensions of athletes. We specialize in athlete development and training. Our clients range from young children just beginning to learn about the fun and excitement of sports, all the way to professional athletes intent on perfecting their skills. A Shooting Starz training regimen is different from many other skills development training. We concentrate on dedication, fundamentals, development and hard work! Most trainers today concentrate on exposure; we ignore the mentality of modern basketball and revert back to an "old school" mentality. The fundamentals of the game must be broken down to a grassroots level and taught properly. First, learn how to do things the correct way slowly. Then, with practice and repetition you will be able to do things the correct way quickly. Otherwise, you repeat bad habits. We emphasize development; not only the fundamental skills for your basketball development, but one step further, we will concentrate on life lessons that will contribute to character development in a young athlete’s life off the court. Athleticism can make you a competitive player, but being fundamentally sound and intelligent will make you a complete player. It is important to evaluate your skill level and determine what goals you want to achieve as a player. Everyone's goals are different, therefore our personal training sessions are designed to give each player the individual attention needed to improve their basketball ability and take their game to the next level. Skills Development
Basic skills development is the foundation of excellent play on the court. Shooting Starz skills development covers every aspect of basketball fundamentals: basic footwork, passing, ball-handling, defense and shooting. One-on-one training sessions will be one hour. Special arrangements can be made to go longer, but no session will be longer than 2 hours. An individualized training program will be developed for each athlete, designed to help them reach their particular goals. Sessions will focus on identifying weaknesses and developing strategies and drills. Each workout will focus on punishing weaknesses while strengthening existing abilities in order to meet individual goals. Sessions are intense and the athlete is pushed hard to accomplish their goal of improving their skill level. The key to skills mastery is repetition. Repetitive practice of fundamental skills in the correct manner teaches the body how to perform a skill correctly. This "muscle memory" is retained in the athlete's subconscious so that performing an athletic skill correctly requires no conscious effort. Basketball is a game of moments and if your body has not been trained to react to these moments, you will not take advantage of opportunities. We train the body to react to these basketball moments!
