Early in our work, we learn how to be “the responsible one.” We take on more, solve problems quickly, and wear our productivity like a badge of honor.
But over time, constant responsibility turns into subtle burnout—irritability over tiny things, detachment, and losing the passion for a career or business you built from scratch.
When I support women through these quiet identity shifts, we often go back to basics to help them feel like themselves again, ease up, and feel lighter.
To transition from living in hyper-responsibility
(“I have to do this all myself”) back to sustainable power (“I am intentionally choosing this”), you have to collect energy first.
Here is a powerful exercise to shift your mindset:
1️⃣ Make a list of everything you loved doing as a child (before age 12).
2️⃣ Choose one micro-action from that list each day.
What is one thing your 10-year-old self loved that you can bring back into your week?
Whether it’s walking outdoors without listening to a podcast, playing music, having a picnic in nature, or un-plugging for an hour—reconnecting with healthy, play-driven energy helps you lead from clarity, not exhaustion.
