Your relationship with your body is not your relationship with your self. I think about how I feel about my daughter, and how it has nothing to do with her physical self. My relationship with her is about my delight in her, my caring for her, my seeing her, and noticing her needs. So too, is our relationship with our selves. Whatever your relationship with your body, be sure you aren’t getting it confused- that is not your relationship with YOU. (PS: bonus points if today you can find a moment to delight in yourself, care for yourself, or notice your needs.)

Lady Sweat is back. (!!)
07/28/2021
Lady Sweat is back (!) with a new look and logo.
During the last year, I thought a lot about whether or not Lady Sweat would exist post-COVID. The thought of dancing together felt impossible, our location closed, and the joy of any collective experience felt very far away.
But now, I’m more sure than ever that women need to move big and to dance out the trauma, fear, and sacrifice of the last year. Lady Sweat’s logo isn’t pink and it isn’t soft. It’s a lightning bolt; it is power and movement. Just like you are.
Can’t wait to dance with so many of you tomorrow, and so many of you in the months and years to come.

Hiya. I wanted to say hi. I miss you. Goodness, I miss you! I miss dancing with you. Here is a little update on what “It’s hard and we’re doing it" looks like for me right now.
I’m homeschooling! It makes me cackle to think of my reaction a year ago if you told me this was in my future. I’m planning a trip south for a few weeks to get some sun. I’m writing postcards to voters. I’m exercising and sweating and listening to The Chicks album (I really hope you are doing that, too).
If you feel like your life is shrinking right now, I want you to know that’s okay and I feel that too. We can take up space in a smaller space for a bit. For me that means exercise. Writing. Going on walks alone. Trying to make one meal a week that I really want (vs the meals I know everyone else will eat). It means staying in bed and going outside. It means zoom town halls. It means trying to stay connected to myself via therapy and phone calls with friends so I can prioritize my connection to my family over everything else (I’m looking at you twitter, and you too, homeschool math).
The pressures on women right now are insane. Do you feel it? I do. I miss you. I’ll be back. I hope you can expand and take up space even if the space available to you feels smaller than ever. Tell me how you are doing that right now? Or just how you are doing? It’s hard. We’re doing it. This is , too.
