Connection, attachment, recurrent challenges. When you begin to look at it from a holistic perspective, you can begin to spot the patterns. And once you see it, you can’t unsee it. The more you know. ✨

Shrinking in relationships happens when you slowly lose yourself to keep the peace, avoid conflict, or maintain connection. You might notice yourself:
∙ Holding back your opinions to avoid disagreement
∙ Changing who you are to fit what you think your partner wants
∙ Abandoning your interests, goals, or friendships
∙ Constantly prioritizing their needs over your own
∙ Feeling like you’re walking on eggshells

This pattern often develops gradually. Maybe you learned early on that being smaller, quieter, or more accommodating kept you safe or loved. Or perhaps you’re navigating a relationship where speaking up feels risky.

Shrinking can happen in any relationship—romantic partnerships, friendships, family dynamics, or even at work. The cost? You lose touch with who you are, what you want, and what you deserve.

The good news: You can learn to reclaim your voice, set healthy boundaries, and show up authentically in your relationships without losing connection.

If you’re experiencing domestic violence, help is available 24/7:
National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE)

You deserve relationships where you can be fully yourself.

We are free to make our choices but not to choose our consequences. Forgiveness does not demand continued fellowship. 🤷🏽‍♀️

7 Types Your Body and Brain Need

Research shows you need more than sleep to restore **energy** and focus. Multiple forms of rest support cognition, mood, creativity, and overall well-being when they are scheduled with intention across your week.

Physical Rest
- Sleep and gentle movement help your body recover, protect immunity, and restore metabolism.
- Track sleep quality and add light stretching, walking, or yoga during the day.

Mental Rest
- Give your brain breaks from constant problem‑solving and screen time.
- Step away for five minutes every hour to reset attention and reduce stress.

Emotional Rest
- Make space to feel and process instead of automatically saying “yes” or pushing through.
- Use journaling or a trusted person to help you name and release what you’re carrying.

Social Rest
- Not every interaction is nourishing, so prioritize relationships that feel grounding and reciprocal.
- Protect time with people who see you, support you, and let you exhale.

Sensory Rest
- Reduce noise, alerts, and visual clutter so your nervous system can downshift.
- Silence non‑urgent notifications and create tech‑free pockets in your day.

Creative Rest
- Creativity expands when you step away and let ideas incubate.
- Visit a gallery, listen to music, or play with color and rhythm with no outcome required.

Spiritual Rest
- Purpose, values, and connection to something bigger support resilience and meaning.
- Align small daily choices with what matters most and spend time in communities or practices that nourish your spirit.

Are You in Need of Rest?
Integrative coaching weaves all seven types of rest into your health, leadership, and life so that change is sustainable rather than another “to‑do.” If you’re ready to audit your rest, rebalance your energy, and create practices that fit your real life, check out the link in my bio.
