Georgia is a perfect 5-0 all-time on this date, August 30—the earliest date the Bulldogs have played a game since their inaugural season of 1892.
The first of those five games came on August 30, 1997, against Arkansas State. Coming off a disappointing 1996 season and even being booed at G-Day, quarterback Mike Bobo jump-started what would become a stellar senior year by completing 13 of 18 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns while adding another score on the ground in a 38-7 rout of the Indians:

Happy 60th birthday to one of my favorite Georgia players as a kid, the Bulldogs’ big-play man of the mid-1980s, Cassius Osborn…
Georgia’s third-leading receiver during the 1980s, Osborn made 41 career receptions for 814 yards and four touchdowns as an integral part of the Bulldogs’ run-heavy offense from 1984 to 1987. His 19.9-yard career average per reception remains third in Georgia football history among players with at least 40 catches, while his 24.1-yard career kickoff-return average still ranks among the program’s top 10 for players with at least a dozen returns.
