This weekends tournament was full of highs and lows for me as a coach personally. Did I prepare my boys enough? Did I explain that one situation that always gets us in practice so they could execute in the game? Are we doing the little things correctly? Mostly yes. This weekend was one of the first times I had players that have either trained with me for lessons or played with us and moved on to other teams and the joy of competition that came from them wanting to perform well and to see everything we have worked on prior take a little bit of shape has filled me with more pride than I could ever imagine I had. The BattleHawks team may have fell one game short of finalist status but a small sample of my work shined through. So happy for all of my athletes and the young men they have become. They all did it for Rush can't wait for the next one!

Don't hate him for the conditioning at the end of a long, hot practice. He's not punishing you; he's forging the mental toughness you'll need in the bottom of the ninth.

Don't hate him for making you run for a lazy throw or a mental error. He's teaching you the painful, necessary lesson that focus is a choice, and every detail matters.

Don't hate him for demanding you sprint out every single groundball, even in a blowout. He's teaching you that your effort is the one thing no one can ever take from you.

Don't hate him for benching you after you threw your helmet. He's teaching you that your character will always be more valuable than your talent, and that the team is bigger than your frustration.

Don't hate him for getting in your face when you disrespect an umpire. He's teaching you that true competitors respect the game, even when they disagree with it.

And parents, don't hate him for being hard on your son.

That coach doesn't see the 12-year-old player you see today. He sees the 25-year-old man your son has the potential to become. He sees a future employee, a future husband, a future father.

And he's not coaching the kid. He's coaching the man.

This weekends pool play schedule is out! Come out and support your Georgia Battlehawks this weekend in Pike County and just take in the atmosphere around this weekend. Some things are bigger than just a ball and some dirt. Let's all take in and appreciate God's work and help this family navigate the unimaginable.

⚾️ The biggest mistake I see in travel baseball right now?

Kids playing MORE… but getting BETTER less.

Everyone feels the pressure:
More games. More tournaments. More exposure.

But here’s the truth nobody wants to say 👇

🚫 Games don’t develop players… TRAINING does.

If your schedule is packed every weekend but you’re not consistently working on:
• Hitting mechanics
• Arm care & strength
• Speed & agility
• Baseball IQ

You’re not progressing — you’re just performing the same version of yourself over and over.

💡 The best players aren’t the busiest…
They’re the most intentional.

They know when to:
✔️ Say no to extra games
✔️ Prioritize quality training
✔️ Recover and reset
✔️ Focus on long-term growth over short-term hype

Because here’s the reality:

Exposure without development = missed opportunity.

Parents, players — don’t fall into the trap of “more is better.”

The goal isn’t to be seen the most…
It’s to be READY when you are seen.

Train with purpose. Play with confidence. Win long-term.
