Geiger Neckwear Although Geiger Neckwear isn’t a decades old company, we pride ourselves in producing the finest true six-fold neckties available.
Geiger neckwear started in 2011 by designer Joshua Geiger with the idea to re-introduce the luxury of the true six-fold necktie and to show the beauty and boldness one can get only from using the highest quality materials & updated versions of traditional six-fold construction methods to hand-craft a true neckwear masterpiece. Our English partner is among the finest and most respected silk weaver
s in the world. Based in Sudbury, England, our silk weavers have been producing the finest fashion silks for close to 300 years. First opening it’s doors in the 1740′s, they have been weaving silk fabrics for royalty & aristocracy since before the Napoleonic Wars & the founding of the United States of America, which happens to be where each Geiger tie is meticulously hand-made from start to finish. A true six-fold necktie is constructed from beautiful silk, cut on the bias & symmetrically folded six times onto itself. Unlike the traditional seven-fold neckties, a six-fold can come either lined or unlined depending on the thickness and weight of the silk being used. When a lining is used, we use a 100% wool cut on the bias to ensure better shape return & a perfect drape. Once the silk is woven, it is laid out flat and the patterns are cut by hand. The self-tipping is then sewn into the tip & tail of the tie. The tipped silk is then folded six times in a style exclusive to Geiger Neckwear. The keeper is attached before hand-stitching (out of a single piece of silk thread) about 100 hidden running slip-stitchs along the entire length of the tie, leaving a little extra thread in the end to allow the silk to stretch slightly when tied. Moving on, the tip & tail bar-tacks are hand-croched just before adding the finishing touch of sewing on one of our distinguished Geiger labels. From the one full meter of 100% English silk, to the 100% silk thread used for all of the stitching in the tie, a Geiger necktie is 100% silk through and through. Unlike most neckties, every single stage of the production process for a Geiger necktie is done by hand. Sure, it takes quite a bit longer to produce a tie when working this way, but there is no disputing the quality of the product… and that’s what we’re about.
