There new logo is official. I loved the yellow belly sapsucker as a representative of wooden boats, but truthfully, after seeing the tiger trout, it made more sense to change the mark. Hope you like it.

We had a great time at the Atlanta Fly Fishing Expo. Met a lot of great people, and learned about some new water. This was my first time showing one of my boats, and I can’t wait for the next event.

A total of 19 shoals to weave back and forth through with rocks either at the surface or just below the water. Jeff Sharpe with made it look easy. I however bounced off most of the rocks and occasionally got stuck.

The third set of shoals on the Hiwassee River got the best of my . I lodged the right oar between 2 rocks. Instantly, the boat spun 90˚ and we fell over the third of 11 shoals. Luckily the oar snapped before my oarlock and I was able to gain control before we smashed into the rocks.

Well… I floated the most technical river to date, the Hiwassee River near Reliance TN. Thanks to Trout Unlimited: Cohutta Chapter #242 for planning the weekend. Even with all the rain, we ended up having a beautiful seven-hour float in my . The river is a mix of shoals with fast and shallow water. They don’t look very intimidating from the bottom, but they were very challenging to navigate with a total of 19 steps between 3 sets of shoals. Thanks to Jeff Sharpe with for helping point out the lines I should have followed. Lots of bouncing off the rocks, but the boat held up.

An amazing weekend, and an amazing white-knuckle adventure. Looking forward to the next run.

This was officially the first (of hopefully many) multi-day float trips I took with my drift boat. Thanks to for hosting the trip which couldn’t have been more amazing. Two days of perfect weather and 17 miles on the Ogeechee River floating though flooded timbers and coastal Georgia. I also want to thank Paddle Georgia Coordinator Joe Cook for making the trip happen and all the amazing photographs.
