Feeling like an imposter is real and
normal, but a mean trick your mind plays on you. 😣
It's completely normal to sometimes feel like an imposter; we've all been there. Imposter syndrome is described as a psychological pattern where individuals doubt their accomplishments and fear being exposed as a 'fraud', even when evidence suggests otherwise (Mullangi & Jagsi, 2019).
What's fascinating is that imposter syndrome doesn't have a one-size-fits-all appearance. For some, it's a nagging belief that they've only gotten ahead because of luck. For others, it's a fear of being 'found out' or exposed as a fraud. And yet, for another group, it's the constant comparison with peers and feeling that they just don't measure up. But here's the good news: awareness is the first step to change.
Keep an eye out for our next post where we’ll delve into strategies to combat and overcome these feelings!

The brain is always looking for the negative, even when it's not there. In other words, humans are wired to see problems before opportunities.
This negativity bias has been linked with depression and anxiety, because people who have a tendency to be pessimistic might find themselves in a downward spiral of thinking that leads them to feel blue or anxious much more often than their optimistic counterparts.
The good news is that this negativity bias can be conquered if you're willing to put in some work!
You just have to rewire your brain and prompt it to look for the positive, too, until the negative is outweighed!

It's pretty clear that the internet is taking over our lives. Most of us are spending more time online than offline, and that means we're missing out on a lot of other things in life.
But it doesn't have to be this way! There are plenty of ways to start building a (sometimes) internet-free lifestyle.
You can start by making small changes here and there, like turning off your phone notifications or using social media less often - or you can go cold turkey with a digital detox.
This is perhaps one of the best self-care tips I can give you!

We all have things that we hold on to which prevent us from moving forward.
It might be an old grudge, a fear of the unknown, or simply a reluctance to let go of the past.
Whatever it is, these things keep us stuck in a rut, unable to progress and achieve our goals.
It can be difficult to let go of these things, but it's important to do so if we want to move on with our lives.
What is one thing you let go of that helped propel you forward? Comment below!

My great aunt is in her 90s. In the most recent video that I saw of her she was dancing to “Body-ody-ody-ody-ody” by Megan Thee Stallion, at a party, at a drag queen dinner show—In her 90’s! Let that one sink in for a moment. 😂
If that’s not a wake-up call to enjoy life and have fun, then I don’t know what is!
I used to be all about work and business and doing all the things, to make sure all the family and professional business things were taken care of. Then I woke up!
I still make sure to take care of things but I now allow my mind time each week to disconnect from reality. In fact, as a confessed I schedule it—just like I schedule prayer, work, family and gratitude time throughout the week, I schedule time for my version of fun.
You would think that as a worklife coach with a background in psychology I would have always done this.
But during hard times that is easier said than done. Plus, when my focus is always on helping others, I love what I do so to me, work WAS my fun. But I had to step back and think like my Aunt.
Now, I’m not a big party person and everyone defines fun in different ways. But however you define it…go have some!
For me, fun is Netflix and chillin’ with my husband, laughing with family, watching videos on YouTube, reorganizing and decorating my own planner, or riding the scooter my hubby got me for my 50th.
In order to stop my mind from pumping out stress-related thoughts, I am now more intentional about including time for my version of fun into my week.
I literally have to pump the scooter brakes on my adult mind.
If you’d love to read more about how to pump the brakes on your own stress-related thoughts, check out my article, “Preserving your inner child…Seriously.”
It may take some work but it can be fun in the end!
Preserving your Inner Child...Seriously!
by Melanie Gallo, PhD You know how when you’re a kid everything is an adventure. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a ten year old that wants to be a pirate or a kid that sees Star Wars (OK... or Star Trek) for the first time and wants to travel into space. That adventurous spirit, the need to l...
