Yesterday's portrait before our ride
03/11/2026
Despite his “hermit/loner” IG handle, he was actually quite social on rides - when he had something to say, it was always funny or insightful. Des was a generous, kind and genuine. If you rode with him long enough, chances were he'd share his fifth of Jack tucked somewhere in his Chrome bag to "stay hydrated" 😏.
I was lucky to have gotten to know him off the bike; in between teaching me how to forage for mushrooms, we had a few inside jokes that would cause instant & uproarious laughter. The most funny one was a sign by his house that read "Black Excellence... coming soon" (We'd say, "Nah, homie... we need it NOW!").
The rides, the woods, and the black excellence jokes won’t be the same without him.
You will be greatly missed, my friend. Ride easy. 🕊️ 🖤
